"Police have confirmed  that Barry Kenyon, was attempting to cross Thappraya Road on the evening of 18 October, when he was hit by a motorbike ridden by 38-year-old Bangladeshi national, Rana Mama. The collision occurred near the intersection near the Rung Ruang Company.

According to police, the crash happened shortly before 19:00 as the traffic light was about to change. The motorcyclist was travelling through the intersection when Mr. Kenyon was attempting to cross the road, leading to the fatal impact. Officers stated the collision took place outside a designated crosswalk area.

Blood alcohol tests conducted on the motorbike rider showed he was sober and not under the influence at the time of the crash. Authorities said this finding would be factored into the ongoing investigation, alongside the video evidence and witness statements.

Pattaya police have reminded pedestrians and motorists alike to use marked crossings and adhere to traffic signals to prevent similar tragedies".

Come and live in Luang Prabang (Laos), no fast cars or motorbikes because the roads are so godamn awful, (or maybe it's the Lao temperament).  Everyone drives/rides slowly, which makes it much safer for the 7-year olds on their e-bikes...

No thanks!

I think we all know Luang Prabang is in Laos.

You seem to mention it in every post.

I have no idea why.

 Not same, very different.

"Farang" usually refers to caucasian 'western' foreigners, not South Asians.

Oh so we must avoid talking about that and hide under the covers ... avoidance is the main reason why nanny states are formed

Louie, What are you saying, you need to be more clear with your comments.

Local radio station reported he was on the island, not crossing the road

I had no idea where isle of man was when I was mentioned to me by a British citizen in Pattaya

I had to google map it

And it's the same with you who didn't know where Alice Springs is , a shame when it's a first nations area and you don't know !!

Well  84.....I think I would stop for a man that age and show respect

That can get someone killed as it did last week on a crossing when a driver let a homeless woman cross only for a motorbike to wipe her out, kaput

He wasn't using a crossing.  His being a long time expat should have known better.

anyone who has been to Pattaya would realise using a crossing is even more dangerous

'Usually'.......what time frame is that, when and where?

Seems Louie is the expert on language now 😂

I assume you mean 'word' not 'work' ... And it it isn't Thai slang for all foreigners, as others have stated in this thread.  It's Thai slang for a white/western foreigner and it's a contraction of the Thai word for a Frenchman .... but you know that already and you're just trolling.

I've been to The Alice and spent 10 years living on Aboriginal land on the Northern Territory.

What are your experiences?

And, no , Alice Springs is not a first nations area. It is a town where some Aboriginal people live. The vast majority are non Aboriginal.

When you have never been west of the Blue Mountains it's best not to lecture to those that have been around a bit.

Your lack of geographic knowledge doesn't surprise me in the least.

I guess all the haters, Thai bashers didn't actually read any details of the accident.   People that don't use the crosswalk, really should take more care, and stay the hell out of the way of on coming traffic ...

Congratulations GG. This is the first post of yours, that I can recall, that actually makes some sense.

It doesn't really, as the part stating that he was on a pedestrian island is likely not accurate.

As you can see from the inverted commas, I was quoting what was reported by the investigators as an update, very clearly, word for word.

I am a City boy and I did go to the country areas of Australia a few times

I don't like it especially at night where I heard noises and in the darkness trees swaying in the wind not to mention the possibility of being attacked by kangaroos

I stayed in a Airbnb after having rented a car only to see poor animals like wombats etc laying splattered over the road

I don't leave the city anymore
