I cannot say that I've ever lost a relationship. Even the most difficult situations, I still keep a dialogue going and through that gain a better understanding. Doesn't mean that we can live together, but the time was not wasted. What you had is all that was possible at the time.

Each new relationship is a continuation of the one before. Gaining new skills and insights as you go along. I don't throw my past away, as it was me. Why would I throw myself away? So even the most toxic of partnerships is invaluable to me. Even if it simply helps me to understand what I need to avoid.

Those same 'toxic' people are still there for me, because I'm there for them. Eventually, they all get it.
