Was "Unseen Thailand" a TAT thing or? (to go with all those other buzz phrases)

There's trust and then there is trust. Like "I trust Donald will lie at his next news conference, as he has done at every other one".

TAT Launches ‘Trusted Thailand’ Mark to Rebuild Tourist Trust

I'll bet that within the week we see a news article where a group of Thai do a group-beatdown and a foreign tourist.

And the winners are ... the re branding advertising

agencies......well done !

I'm going to make myself a badge saying 'Trusted Tourist' then I can stay as long as I want

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) plans to enlist at least 5,000 operators in a safety and security certification scheme by January 2026. On Thursday, 235 operators received the credential, covering accommodations, restaurants, attractions, and shopping malls.

Two main questions.............

1. How much do these certificates cost?......

2. Do you actually have to do anything other than pay for one?

And use the big liars like.."dan about Thailand"and other influencers living a free life when they recommend places and restaurants all over Thailand. These people just do this for a free stay.

If Thailand really wanted tourists to trust them, they should immediately stop the common practice of charging higher prices for foreigners. Thailand has become way too expensive, when tourists are being heavily overcharged, not only in national parks, but almost everywhere they go, with exceptions like 7-eleven and other shops with same prices for all. Overcharging is not how you make tourists wish to come back in the future. The constantly postponed tourist tax is just a drop in the ocean, in comparion with the common overpricing of foreigners.

Tourism operators in Thailand have introduced the "Trusted Thailand" mark to regain traveler confidence while urging the government to launch marketing campaigns ahead of Chinese New Year 2026

But it's the easy access to Chinese criminals that has allowed the flood of scammers into Thailand who have caused its reputation to crumble and made its banks unsafe.

Don't Thai to me.

I don't think the TAT or the recent governments get it on tourism, and are at a loss as to why they are experiencing falling tourist numbers. Tourists are much more savvy these days and want bang-for-their-buck from places plus a hassle-free experience... something which Thailand is going in the opposite direction on. This Thai officialdom fixation of trying to attract wealthier tourists without offering anything in exchange will just relegate Thailand down the pecking order, whilst other countries do the tried and tested MO and prosper.

You simply can't make everything more expensive and a paperwork hassle, plus Chinese style monitoring stuff at hotels etc. and expect people to flood in that will spend... especially with a artificially strong manipulated currency.

People are going to vote with their feet as there are options now and you'll end up with just Chinese and Indians here... whoopy-do, FFS. Thailand should just refine the style of tourism that made them rich, so that it is compatible for the modern-day situation, rather than going full-on nationalist and being as difficult as possible... Duh!

You sir, have your head well and truly screwed on!

I'm glad tourist numbers are down.

Thailand does not deserve them.

They can't even get the basics right!

So is here an example of the logo?

  • "Thailand's "Trusted Thailand" mark aims to boost tourism confidence."

          Another brainwave by TAT!

Not only. There’s less holiday money about these days. Except for the mega rich, who do not go to Thailand for their holidays. There’s nothing there for them.

Thai authorities ( excepting Bangkok) take the tourist $ and run. To their own banks. No invest Is made in infrastructure unless one of them are cashing in.

They’ve ruined Phuket years ago ( started after the tsunami) now the other smaller islands are suffering from crazy building , no rules, back handlers and scam sales.  Koh Chang has been spared for a while as it’s family owned,

you can’t built high rise hotels or condos, and most of the island is National Park. It’s the only place that’s more or less authentic, though I wouldn’t give it long.

Everything is falling down, including high buildings, and sink holes are sinking fast. Why ? $ is the answer. Nothing is properly invested in infrastructure, it’s still 3rd world.
Tourists can read ! Let’s see, death trap roads, illegal goings on under the counter of cannabis shops, tourists getting beaten in night clubs / bars, falling off illegally rented scooters , dying, astronomical hospital costs even if it’s not their fault, no real pavements or traffic lights that don’t work, no police presence in town , fights in the streets, , scams left right and center, in your face prostitution, young girls walking around in underwear or sitting on the bus on their way to work, etc etc. And for a few weeks holiday and an expensive plane ticket, that’s what they get. And that’s what they talk about when they go home. I’m not talking about expats or the foreigners on long stay visas . They say tourists numbers are down, no wonder, I’m surprised it’s not halved .

"Trusted" implies that trust has been proven, tested and established for a period of time...

Maybe the TAT should first labor to establish that trust before labeling Thailand as "trusted"..., also "trusted" by whom exactly?

Also implies,  you didn’t trust us before.  ! But you can now.

TRUSTED THAILAND means.. trust that criminals can run Phuket and Pattaya.. trust that Russians and Arabs can do whatever they want.. trust that Indians can make hell and sleep on the beach in Pattaya...trust that scammers can steal people money and values from Thailand..trust that they double the prices when fewer customers..trust dual pricing..trust that thai baht will be ridiculous high..trust flip flop visas.. opening hours for alcohol..trust taxiscams..and so on!

As usual never here of incentives to boost European tourists numbers its all about Chinese visitors. Why don't TAT  just stick 2 men size cardboard cutouts one of a Chinese man and European man side by side with a slogan underneath " Who would you Trust "
