The title is an exaggeration. 28.8% is closer to 1 in 4, not one in 3. And how reliable is this 'data'.

Ironically, the current American President's mother, from Scotland, had gaelic as her first language.

Barron Trump speaks in Slovenian with his mother, to the annoyance of his father.

My Scottish ancestor.

You mean your American ancestor.

Due to a temporary power failure in the dark room at Boots the Chemist in Cumbernauld, all photographic evidence of William "wee blue face" Wallace were unfortunately lost.

Here’s my full post again so we can all see the bit you edited out that blows your argument out of the water:

Well there’s an improvement, you getting the idea of broad generalizations.

However:

What makes this a more complex question is that it isn't explained by the catch-all of poverty. Children from poor Indian, Pakistani, African and Caribbean families do much better, despite similar levels of disadvantage. “

I did not edit anything out.

You made the following blanket statement

And yet it’s the white working class kids who are failing in school.

And I pointed out that the resources which would otherwise be directed to address their need, is redirected to service the needs of the immigrant community. This is an established fact.  There are finite resources available and the educational administrators with political pressure, have directed the resources to those they deem need it more. I offer that there is now an endemic bias against  "white" and north Asian people in the UK.

Artricle is misleading too. What it meant to say this is was a second language.

But in all serious if you see a foreigner living in Thailand, especially old racist Brits who have been out there for years, and can't spring a sentence in Thai we should be pointing at them as disgraceful residents (if you go by their own logic of asimilating).

My grandparents all came from Greece to the usa circa early 1900s.  Rules, regulations, driving exams, schools, laws,  did not do anything in any language except English.  They learned, adapted, worked hard and prospered.

The huge majority of westerners in Thailand are not residents. While I do see the point you're trying to make, it's not the same. We don't receive any benefits from Thailand, not allowed to work, we live here year to year never certain when we'll be asked to leave.

That's nice.

I wonder what the most popular boys name is in the uk, now days. :whistling:

Agenda alert? The lead does not credit the Express UK for the article, a known right wing tabloid. The title UK is misleading as its specific to Glasgow where they are hard to understand at the best of times anyway?

I've come across alot of guys in Thailand who have been living for years.

They speak not a word of Thai. Even some guys with business, own bars, yet they make no effort to learn the language.

Yet they sit in the same bars pontificating about foreigners back in the UK not assimilating. It's the same in Spain.

Again very misleading.

You've read headline reports and fallen for it. Virtually every muslim child born in the UK will use the name Mohammed at the start of their name, even if that is it not their actual name. It's used for religious connotions. It's the same with Sikhs, who adopt the surname 'Singh' for religious purposes.

Muslims in the UK make up only around 5% of the UK population - which is even less than muslims in Thailand, but let's not prejudices get in the way.

Are the Brits in Thailand collecting welfare, free housing, free food and all the other gov assistance?

UK governments own data reveals migrants bring in more money than take out. Massively. Without migration (which every countries needs, even Thailand) the economy would collaspe, including the health service. But GB news doesn't tell you this does it.

Do the migrants in the UK cause crime, sleep with vulnerable prostitutes thus creating a horrific society, do their old people date young ladies in exchange for financial support, be drunk at 2pm in the afternoon in bars, like to engage in violence after a few pints, drug use, cost of policing the violence - or is this just the migrants in Thailand ?

Give me the hard working migrants over in the UK, the hard working doctors, health care workers, those who do jobs the locals are too lazy to do - over the  Brits in places like Pattaya.

Most spoilt Brits get the advantage of dual citizenship and generous pensions even when they don't live in those countries - so spoilt, yet still continue to whinge. Even if a few migrants claim benefits, it's nothing in comparison those who are avoiding paying their taxes, energy companies ripping customers off, etc - but funnily enough you aren't directed to protest against them.

Racist.

That's strange, all you seem to do is talk about folk taking medication, does that mean you are p_ssed off that I don't take any, and that you do..........😏

Oh you mean the 30,000 people that arrive on boats.

Compare this to the guy over in Manchester who took nearly 300 million in UK government loans to build luxury flats. Then after building the flats, he took the money out as a salary, bankrupt the company, did not pay the money back, and moved to Monaco. Yeah but no protest against guys like this.

You are fools who are being directed to blame the wrong people. Did Gb news ever cover this? Nah you are fools. There are many stories like this.

"A recent news story from November 2025 reported that Daren Whitaker, a wealthy property tycoon whose company Renaker received hundreds of millions of pounds in government-backed loans for Manchester flats, has moved to Monaco and listed it as his primary residence. The user's query about a "manchester flats monaco ran of with government loans" appears to be referring to this specific event. "

FARAGE the guy who instigated Brexit and ruined the country, is now telling you he can save the country ! TELL ME ONE BENEFIT OF BREXIT THE RACISTS THOUGHT THEY WOULD GET.  If he gets into power the pound will fall even more, more racism and disharmony in the UK, an economy that would further collapse.

Dont ask,

My mate said walking down the streets of Oldham nobody is speaking English, Must be Urdu now,

About 18% of schoolchildren in the UK are recorded as having English as an additional language (EAL), meaning it is not their first language. In Scotland, the figure is lower overall but can be much higher in certain cities such as Glasgow, where nearly 29% of pupils fall into this category.

So in a proper newspaper less than 1 in 5........hmmmm

I bet many kids in the UK will be speaking another language soon, My grand daughter is learning Farsi and she is only 4 and half, she goes every Saturday to a school they also teaching about music and art,

It is a particular talent that you possess.

Actually, the only one that I can see.
