QR Codes Use Gone Mad ?

I don't have a cell phone, how can I be frightened to use it? I don't like landlines either, haven't liked them for decades. I keep mine unplugged unless I want to make a call. Do you think I'm afraid of landline phones?  What you deem as sensible is nothing more than your opinion, which is no better or worse than mine. In a hypothetical challenge, do you think you are capable of traveling the world and living life without a cell phone? If not, I pity you and think  you should grow a pair.

61 and no "smartphone" i reckon you're 81, cellphones was the old name decades ago

UK coins arec1, 2, 5 , 10, 20, 50, £1 and £2. All easily distinguishable.

Are you forgetting the Thai satang coins.

Not forgetting, I don't see many in my dealings, as I use a card in most cases.

No the people trying to pay with their phones are left behind, I'm out the door before them....:coffee1:

That’s great. You win the race.  555!

Hey, slow down and smell the roses. Life isn’t something to hurry through.

Are you that mentally impaired to deal with 7 everyday (not commerative) coin variants ?

Last time I used UK coins was over 20 years ago, although having been back there twice in the meantime. Still a bloody nightmare!

I am struggling to imagine how this "nightmare" manifests itself.  Too many of them to carry?  Can't add up?

You will need it most likely, but maybe too late to learn

I doubt it, I'm what one could call a minimalist, I have no subscriptions, this site is the only social media platform I subscribe to, I buy what is necessary with cash, anything larger I do a physical bank transfer (form filling), I view AI with suspicion and I think Facebook is dangerous, I write emails (PC) instead of telephoning, I have obviously never bought anything online and I have never been scammed.

If you were carted off to hospital and they wanted 400k deposit before they give life saving care, have you got that scenario covered?

Thai hospitals are legally required to provide immediate, life-saving emergency care under the

Universal Coverage for Emergency Patients (UCEP) policy, allowing access to critical services for the first 72 hours regardless of ability to pay

How would you pay that 400K with a bank app that needs facial recognition while on life support?

I'm 77, what is there to cover?

Cash has been through more hands than a Bangkok tuk-tuk seat. I’ll stick with contactless.

Yeah right, I wouldn't rely on that, I've seen people post about needing to transfer 400k deposit urgently.

obviously depends how serious condition you're in. If you can't transfer money, who knows what will happen

Depends if you want to live or not, up to you, phone banking app might come in handy.

Maybe you can ask the staff to get your pc from your home and bring it to the hospital?

The manifestation that you consider to be you is impermanent......you never happened, there never was a you, no banking app will change that......it just doesn't matter so don't take things so seriously.

If your uncomfortable I doubt you would be capable of making any payments.

It's happening every day in hospitals so best to have that option

Is cash and bank visa etc not simpler than all this QR scanning crap for restaurants....?

It seems its 5 steps to pay with QR vs 1 with money or a visa card and I was told I was not "keeping up with things" by refusing all that QR crap that never existed as much a few years back...

It's fascinating that the generation with the most 'permanent vacation' time is the one most offended by a 30-second digital transaction.

7/11's can always change 1000 thb notes, none in your neighbourhood?

They are not always available in some places you may find me or I would need to travel 5-8 km to make a small purchase and get change.

The alternative is using the PromptPay code proudly displayed at the shop/cart, make the payment and on my way…. Fast, Efficient and helps ‘Save the Planet’ too.
cheers 🙏

the uk system takes 3-5 seconds and is therefore more efficient than cash.
