Fabulous Pattaya 103FM

Featured Replies

Radio station is going off air midnight tonight (31Dec). I understand that FP103FM were outbid for the radio frequency and will no longer be able to broadcast on FM but shall continue via internet and their App.

Does anyone know who bid the 800,000 THB to obtain the FM slot and if the new station will be in English.

Sounded like it was on its last legs an hour ago when I was out unfortunately - living up to the crackle they have been talking about when pushing the app/online version.

It's a shame as I generally only listened when in the car around Pattaya.

Personally I doubt it but maybe I will be surprised........🤣

The following report on YouTube may answer some of your questions. It says the 103 frequency was not even up for bidding.

People listen to radio stations ?

I'm in a very bad spot for radio reception

103 FM was the strongest signal in my area after this is gone the only one left with a decent signal will be the

Sattahip Navy radio station ☹️

I just checked and its off air already. 17.30 December 31st R.I.P

A shame, although I'm surprised the ancient 'Smash & Nicey' format lasted as long as it did!

In the car yes - especially in an older vehicle and I don't do unlimited data......

At home I do listen to Capital Chill online .............

I just downloaded the Fabulous Radio Pattaya app on my phone, so that I can continue to listen in the car (using usb connection or sync with bluetooth).

On the plus side, no more fading out as we get further from Pattaya.

Was it not Colon?

It sounds like it's the only way they could stay in existence as the money the government wanted for an FM slot was over a million Baht and 103 wasn't available, so they'd have had to rebrand themselves anyway. It'll save them the large expense of electricity to power the transmitter so that's a useful win. The downside is, if you have to open an app or their website to listen to the radio via your phone, and then cast it to the infotainment system via a USB cable or Bluetooth, then why would your first choice be Fabulous Radio Pattaya? Surely, unless you're a big fan of Tommy Dee and his band of DJ's, or desperate to hear the Pattaya and Thai news, you may as well just listen to your favourite station in your home country as it's no more effort? I wish them well, but it will be interesting to see how this works out for them.

The point of radio is that you don't need the internet or expensive gadgets ..just a very cheap and reliable radio receiver even one that is 50 or more years old will still work.

And cheap guys like me who drive an ancient vehicle!

So I just listened to ABC Radio Australia

It's disappointing that the news bulletins now can't pronounce the name of the city where they come from. "Pt eye ah" just sounds like some ill-educated amateur Youtuber and detracts from the presentation.

Mid way between the centre and north Pattaya

I find it a bit annoying to wait after starting the car for Android Auto to wake up on the infotainment system, then go to the Fabulous Pattaya app on my phone and wait for it to buffer, before I get any music or banter. It's not a big issue if you're going to be driving for, say, 20 minutes or more, but to just drive down to the beach, which takes 6 or 7 minutes, it's a bit of an overkill. I downloaded the ad-free Radiogram app which allows you to specify a country and then choose from the radio stations it has from there, so now I can listen to Classic FM back in the UK if I want to. It's still a bit tedious waiting for the station to appear on the infotainment system, though. And for really short journeys, like 2 minutes to or from the 7-eleven, it's pointless, so the Pattaya People FM station is a good option. I think that's how I'll end up, listening to the FM station while driving in Pattaya and firing up a station from an app if I know I'll be traveling beyond the FM reception area.

Listening to someone in charge of a radio station, they have all been victims in this and are unhappy.

https://www.pattayatrader.com/2025/12/20/90-75fm-rotary-radio-in-pattaya/

Starting January 1st 2026, there has been a change in licensing around Thailand for FM radio frequencies. The CEO of Pattaya People Media Group, Niels Colov, was lucky enough to gain exclusive rights to the only two available frequencies on offer. The first, 88.25FM, has been assigned to Pattaya People Radio (formerly 96FM) and the second, 90.75FM has now been given to the Rotary Club of Pattaya with a whole new outlook to FM broadcasting.

The station will be supervised by radio production manager Barry Upton who has come up with an original concept which will not only entertain, but inform about Rotary clubs from all over the Pattaya region and, hopefully, beyond. The thought is that by having a one stop centre where people can learn about Rotary and its many fund raising events, the city and individual Rotary clubs can benefit from 24 hour, 7 days a week radio exposure.

So it seems Fabulous 103 ( Barry Upton) has 'moved' to 90.75 now called Rotary Radio ???

the station is streaming online.

at https://www.rotarypattaya.com/RotaryRadio/

as @TaaSaparot posted earlier 👍

88.25 doesn't seem to have a web stream ?
