They should just ban and remove all balconies in Thailand.

I live in Bangkok, I wasn’t in Pattaya.” She said she learned of his death when his lawyer contacted her and described herself as “shocked”.

Police said they were called to the death at 10.30pm on February 9 and investigation found the apartment door was locked from the inside and CCTV checks showed Griffiths was the only person who entered the room before his death. Officers found two opened bottles of wine and a bottle of water inside the condo. A police source said: “The only person who went into the room was Quentin, so we do not believe there was anything suspicious.”

However, questions remain. A wicker chair had been pulled next to the waist-high glass balcony surround and there were hundreds of footprints on the balcony floor. No suicide note was found in the apartment, but an unsealed envelope was seen on the passenger seat of his McLaren 570S parked in the building’s garage, which Pattaya police reported, were linked to the ongoing legal case.

Griffiths’ death followed a prolonged custody dispute and financial battle with Kringsinthanakun over their two children, aged 12 and 11. She alleged he fraudulently sold land and shares worth £500,000 belonging to her company, claims he denied. Court papers cited accusations including “reporting a false message” to police and falsely claiming a land deed was lost, and a further hearing had been due on 23 February.

Griffiths was arrested at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport in January last year and questioned by the Economic Crime Suppression Bureau before being released. The legal proceedings were ongoing at the time of his death.

A Foreign Office spokesperson said: “We are supporting the family of a British national who has died in Thailand and are in contact with the local authorities.” ASOS said: “We’re saddened to hear about the passing of Quentin, one of our original co-founders.”

Gottfried surely you have heard of the Pattaya Flying Club? The flight instructors being the 'brothers' and 'cousins' of the young hostesses who welcomed the budding geriatric pilots on board? It's an industry mate although it seems to have been in something of a recession since the pandemic.

Whether or not Ploy is a shareholder in the industry is purely a matter for conjecture however.

Thais are mustard when it comes to money matters; it is usually one of their best qualities to cry ' foul ' for theft of property, goods, and chattels that they were probably given in the first place.

It certainly looks like a suicide on the surface; of course, this is Thailand, and scenes of crimes can be altered to suit when they involve extreme wealth.

Yes. And as I read the OP, they fished him out of departures at BKK last January. Looks like they kept him here since. That's over a year away from his home country, in Bangkok, where it looks like he's failed on all fronts. Facing the interminable Thai legal system and the chance of losing a good portion of his wealth as well as child custody. Without a decent support group suicide would not be surprising at all. The autopsy will tell.

(The two bottles of wine and the chair in front of the balcony also reminds me a bit of Eddy G. Robinson's last moments in Soylent Green.)

had a landlord thrown off a roof top in Chaing Mai a few years ago.... not sure hitman or not but was related to dodgy business dealings he was involved with in Cambodia!

Even though evidence clearly suggested otherwise it was ruled a suicide.

It is interesting that whenever there is a story about a balcony fall in Thailand (and yes there does seem to be quite a few) the topic always comes up about the hight of balconies or how dangerous Thailand is with its low balconies and unsafe sidewalks, ect . Whatever happened to personal responsibility, to paying attention to where you lean over on a balcony, to where you walk. I myself have stepped into a hole in the sidewalk up to my thigh, my reaction- embarrassment that I was that unaware, not anger at Thailand for having unsafe sideways. I would hate for Thailand to become as litigated as the west where people can sue for their coffee being too hot. It is already bad enough here with the defamation lawsuits and tourists getting lost or drowning, resulting in required life jackets in swimming areas and guides on a hike of any distance. Please keep Thailand's balconies unadulterated!
