“Thank You Thailand” Trend Goes Viral with Tourists

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

A new social media trend has gone viral as foreign tourists conclude their visits to Thailand by posting “Thank you Thailand” videos, drawing widespread attention online. The clips show visitors bowing in gratitude and sharing detailed accounts of their trips. The trend has prompted positive reactions from Thai social media users and renewed discussion about the country’s tourism appeal.

According to Khaosod English on 22 February 2026, many travellers use the videos to summarise their experiences in detail. They recount how many days they spent in Thailand, how many steps they walked and how much money they used during their stay. Some also specify the number of tuk-tuk and Grab rides they took, visits to 7-Eleven, Thai massages received and plates of pad Thai and mango sticky rice consumed.

In addition, several tourists mention the number of mosquito bites they endured or instances of food poisoning, before concluding with reflections on the memories they are taking home. Despite minor inconveniences, most reviews express admiration for Thai cuisine, traditional massage, scenic attractions and the warmth of local people. The format of the videos has become widely replicated across platforms.

Thai netizens have responded with appreciation, commenting that the posts highlight aspects of the country that locals may overlook. Some online users observed that European tourists in particular appear to be returning in large numbers this year. They suggested that maintaining good hospitality standards and avoiding taking advantage of visitors would help sustain positive word of mouth.

The trend emerges amid continued efforts to support Thailand’s tourism sector, which relies heavily on international visitors. Positive online exposure may reinforce the country’s reputation as a welcoming destination. Social media trends have increasingly influenced travel decisions and perceptions among global audiences.

It remains to be seen how long the “Thank you Thailand” format will maintain momentum online. However, the volume of posts suggests that travellers are keen to publicly document and quantify their experiences. Industry observers will be watching whether the trend translates into measurable tourism growth in the months ahead.

Coincidence that sticky rice and mango and Pad Thai are promoted by Lisa?? I think that negative posts will be prosecuted for defamation... Maybe the trend is made by AI, as is stated in the article... "efforts to support THailand's tourism"

And.... what say you Thailand tourism doom merchants ?

There's probably lots of happy young mongers too who are just getting into the hobby.

F growth and more more more! That typically leads to ruination… when you invite everyone in, you end up with problems evident in places like Pattaya. Just maintain/improve standards, value/respect visitors, don’t let trash in, deport undesirables. Wow, I should be head of TaT! 🙂

Ah yes. Among all the tourism decline stories, the one that puts it in a positive light means Thailand is going to have too much tourists! and that's bad !

A nice article but i will say, casual visitors only see part of the picture.

I wonder what the videos would be like if it was expats making them 🙂

I think they already imply thank you, with their return trips. On topic comment done.

No 'Thank you from Expats' treading, so sad ...

... Thank you for not demonizing meat eaters, like Spain

... Thank you for allow affordable solar systems

... Thank you for inexpensive BEV

... for the CS network

... for sensible immigration policy, ease to live here

... enforcing immigration to arrest & deport those can't follow laws

... low tax burden

... not requiring us to use wrong language & silly pronouns

... for the national parks & still having 30+% of forested countryside

... for sensible ganga laws and new enforcement

... for all the new upkeep and maintained highway system

... keeping inflation to a manageable level

... keeping the exchange rate at artificial level as western currencies fail

... for affordable & accessible healthcare system

... for requiring all to have & carry ID

... for embracing capitalism

... for free speach & expression, or AN wouldn't be able exist cheesy

It's good the netizens are happy.....phew!

If the expats made the videos they would no doubt be rather blue!

Better than being beaten off by the LBs, and was it one of those who gave you the STDs and nicked your wallet. 555

I'll be keeping those details private for national security reasons.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER!

So strange that tourists go from being demonized for behaving badly to receiving bouquets for saying thank you.

They all fall under the heading of “tourists in Thailand 2026”. Which just goes to show that it’s wrong to classify a whole group by just a few individuals

Sounds like a must-watch.

I am glad to hear good news about Thai tourism, but I do think that it is a bit odd to keep track of the number of visits to 7 1, the number of grab rides and even how much money one spends. I guess people all have different measures of what constitutes a "good" vaccination. But, I guess it is better than the number of STD's one acquires. 😀
