The last week or two Pattaya has got busier and busier for traffic even on a motorbike. Today 2nd road, 3rd road, side roads, Buakhao, everywhere i went jammed, yes it's Sunday but traffic today is at new year levels, why?

When the planes from Dubai stop coming it will become more quiet....

my daily commute home from Phan Thong has increase from 1hr to 1hr 25 mins.... lots more pattaya inbound traffic.

5 am is a good time to buy what you need at foodland

another shut down of everything like covid is gonna thin the traffic too

Are you suggesting you ride a bike in Central Pattaya?

Really?

Why?🙃🙃

We noticed the same thing on Thursday when we went into town during the day. Lots of traffic on Sukhumvit and Thepprasit was just awful--my least favorite road in Pattaya. Felt like a packed holiday weekend but, as I said, just a regular Thursday. Looming on the skyline were 3 huge new Jomtien condo projects under construction--when they come online they will be adding even more traffic to the congestion.

Meanwhile, not a single big road construction project under way by the city government. Or, even a small one, for that matter, unless I might have missed it. Large road construction work has been done south of the city, building overpasses over some intersections on the way to Satthip, and the same thing has been done as you approach Sri Racha, but nothing for Pattaya--wonder why. The only thing I have noticed was some new guard rails installed on Sukhumvit, which were needlessly painted in rainbow colors--a complete waste of time and money, as the colors will likely soon be faded and covered in road dirt. I guess we're supposed to admire the colors as we sit in traffic but why not do something more useful?

Why not?

I just rode down to pick up food from Soi Buakhow food market.

Apparently it's the kites and Chinese New Year.

Let's hope the traffic lights all fail simultaneously and traffic can move freely. Beach Road, Second and Third roads would be virtually empty.

It's not the volume of traffic that is the problem. It's the total lack of any synchronisation of the lights that bottle-up a kilometre long queue of traffic at an intersection while the converging roads cleared of traffic three minutes previously and not a vehicle in sight for half a kilometre or more in any direction.

Then the green light releases you to drive to the next red light - rinse and repeat.

Oh for 2020/21 - you could drive from Central Festival to Jomtien in three minutes and only see three other moving cars and a few scooters. I also miss signing in as Winston Churchill or Eric A. Blair (and occasionally Mr. A Hitler) on the register. Often saw Mickey and Donald were also frequent Mall attendees. Hats off to the dude that once signed in as Dostoevsky - especially for spelling it correctly. coffee1

They are replacing curbs everywhere that seems to screw the traffic up

Good point, the best traffic lights are the ones that are off

Agreed, town was choking yesterday, including the routes in and out. Motorway was too. Strangely quieter by 6pm though. First day of March, and first day of hot season, and it lived up to it!

Bet you cut a dash in your 6 year old Toyota Corolla !

Absolutely ridiculous. It was about an hour from South Pattaya Rd to Central Festival early afternoon on second Rd. I kept expecting to see/pass some major road works. But it was all just from cars turning into the Central parking. What's wrong with the malls in Bangkok? And what happened to Bang San Beach for Thais on weekends ? Just going to let the Thais and their cars have it on weekends. Unlike them I have better things to do .

Not at all. Im jealous of all the babes you pick up.

I dread it when they open the 10,000 + new condos along 2nd Road, Thappraya Rd the traffic will be murder. Better get used to walking.

It's because Tuesday is a Buddha day, and many make it a long weekend.

Had to go to Central festival. Took me a full hour from Sukhumvit Pattaya klang to the entrance of the parking lot, and then couldn't enter, so gave up and returned home

I also have a 1262cc Ducati but I don't ride around 2nd road, 3rd road, side roads, or Buakhao,

Yes, I guess so. That and the kite festival.

I got into Big-CX car park quite early on, and later took a M/C to Central as I wanted to visit a shop there. I decided to walk back which may have been a bad decision, I was definitely overheating and wobbly on my feet after. Lot of pavement work going on in town too, making pedestrian life difficult.
