A Free $1,000 To Blow on Subscription Services, How Would You Do It?

Not difficult at all. Do you already have a download engine like utorrent? I simply provide you with an invite and the site works like most other torrent sites. Except this one is awesome and never has any issues.

qBittorrent is good too.

Meanwhile, many of the best sites have disappeared in the last 6-12 months. Galaxy and Lime both gone, both were great.

TPB is still solid. 1337x is also good. And YTS great too, but for movies only.

Any others?

That involves uploading via your device. With his current method, he does not have to do that. Downloaders aren't targeted via his method. Especially if he uses a VPN. It's the people who do the uploading that get the bulk of scrutiny.

Offering a safe consistent way is all. To each their own.

I'd pocket the money, pirate the software & torrent the rest.

Only a chump uses subscription services. They're a scam.

Want to never own anything you buy? Sheesh...

I'm sure that you know better than me. Don't know much about it.

The question was a free $1000 to blow on subscription services, how would you do it. Not a choice between that and cash. Millions use such services for entertainment, which is what millions do, unless you consider sports, concerts, and movies a scam. Want to never own anything you buy can also include food and gasoline , things you need that are used and passed along, one to get anywhere you're going and the other as waste material and body repairing.

I've spent the last year actively moving away from exactly these kinds of services and replacing them with privacy-respecting, open source, or self-hosted alternatives.

These platforms have a well-documented history of invasive data collection practices, and not just as allegations.

Google alone has settled multiple major privacy lawsuits totalling billions of dollars:

See here:

For me, no subscription price makes that acceptable. I'd rather invest that $1000 into hardware or services that keep my data mine.

I subscribe to the economist, MorningStar, financial, financial times, New York magazine, and Apple TV and YouTube.

And I steal Netflix and Spotify from my girlfriend. But I practically use them without her present.

Already, that feels like too much. I might someday finally have seen enough love is blind episodes to look at Hulu or Paramount or something. But that years away.

For a new, I would get the criterion film subscription that has all the classic art house films that are hard to find otherwise and watch them all again for six months.

Maybe a Sirius subscription for endless music stuff like the Afrobeat and Bruce Springsteen channels. And Howard Stern, but there’s only so many hours of the day to absorb stuff

I might also get some more financial stuff, but Morningstar does a great job to the level that you can pick stocks off their star rating and do reliably well. It’s all based on Warren Buffett value investing concepts.

I am still struggling to think of a reason why I need AI.

I get BBC, ABC (Australia ) and the New Daily free. I have about 2 terabytes of TV series downloaded for me by my son.

I have a Linux OS ( that's free as well ). AI is very useful in optimizing it. I don't have Microsoft taking over my laptop just because it can, or trying to fix a hole in their fatware found by hackers.

I also use AI to find facts. To refute beliefs held by some posters on ASEAN.

Google Gemini Pro, Office 365 Copilot, YouTube Premium, Disney Plus, iCloud 2tb. Maybe another movie channel. Kind of what we do now as a family.

Interesting. What does Grab Unlimited do for you?

For me, mostly knocks 10-15b off food delivery. Pretty good deal for the frequent Grab user.

Key Benefits & Features

  • Free Delivery: Applicable to GrabFood and GrabMart when meeting minimum spend requirements.

  • Transport Discount: Automatic, stackable discounts on up to 10 rides per month.

  • Exclusive Vouchers:

Access to additional discounts and special partner deals.

  • GrabCoins: Higher points accumulation (e.g., 1 GrabCoin per ฿10 spent).

    Subscription Details

  • Cost: Often priced around ฿99/year after a free trial period, though prices may vary.

  • Free Trial: Frequently offers a 3-month free trial for new users or via promotions.

  • Cancellation: Can be cancelled anytime via the Grab app.

  • How to Join: Look for "GrabUnlimited" under the "Member Benefits" section in the main app menu.

  • It is highly recommended for regular users of Grab services to save on daily expenses.

You won't find many facts on the ABC, just left wing biased crap. Same as the BBC.

I’d proudly donate the entire $1000 to my best friend’s GoFundMe, because clearly what he needs most right now is a generous financial boost toward getting treatment to untangle his mental health saga and ongoing identity crisis. With any luck, this might be the investment that helps him figure out which gender is actually in charge on any given day.

I believe you’re starting to miss him at this point.

Using Linux on the desktop can be quite frustrating, and AI doesn't always provide accurate information.

Yes I got one from him and it works fine. You need to be careful to upload enough to cover your downloads. I use it mainly for old stuff which they call freeleech that means you have to share for 3 days to meet your quota. The new stuff is available lots of places so no need to deal with the quota stuff.

If it isn't inconvenient, please send me an invite. I always have issues with getting cycling (Tour de France) torrents and maybe this would be a fix. Thanks for the info!

You’ve added real value to the thread with this, thanks. Any more off topic, uninteresting, banal, nobody give a **** tripe that you would like to share?

Yes, plenty. Thank you for asking.

No quota on freeleech I think. You can hit and run those ?

We usually get there eventually, it takes patience.

3 days before you can delete.
