Market Research In Bedlam

Featured Replies

After doing a little research in the archives it would seem that the old Bedlam was more "entertaining" (if a little bluer) than todays version.

I realise that many of the earlier inmates are unable to add to this thread, but those that are able, could they please give their views as to whether they think Bedlam is now :-

a. over moderated

b. more moderation is needed

c. the balance is about right

The decor is Ok, the company is fine, the lunch breaks can be a little on the long side (especially on Sunday) ... other than that, no complaints really.

Apart from that no running in corridors rule, that's what corridors were built for for heavens sake.

And the gravy on Saturday's is a little runny.

I think I arrived here shortly after the switch from the "VIP" forum to Bedlam.

As I mentioned in another thread, back then the moderation was a bit looser, and what happened ? People started trying to push the boundaries a little further each day.

Had it not been for the moderators stepping in a little more pro-actively, things would have seriously degenerated. As it was, there was some concern (at one point) that there was starting to be too much of a certain type of topic appearing (porn basically), and with it the risk of coming under the watchful eye of the ICT.

Like I also mentioned in that other thread, there was a time as well when it seemed most of the threads in Bedlam were politically orientated, and there were some very "heated" discussions/debates/dirt-raking mud-slinging name calling flame fests going on.

Things have settled down a lot since then, and there is noticeably more leniency than in the general forums, though certain topics remain taboo of course.

I think Bedlam has achieved a good balance now. Most of the members and the mods have a good sense of what is acceptable and where the lines need to be drawn if required.

It's been awhile since I've said it, but I think that the moderation here on TV has been a large part of the success of the site. One only has to look at some of the other Thai related sites to see what it could have been like, had it not been for the mods. Some of those sites have been around almost as long, but are no where near as successful.

Padded!?.. PADDED!!??.. I should be so lucky. I don't even get my electro-shock therapy anymore.. it used to be the highlight of my week. :o

I feel this is getting a little close to discussing moderation issues, however I think we have to be clear what we are trying to state, if moderation issues are to be discussed, then it should be across the board.

Congratulatory posts or criticism go hand in hand, if we allow certain posts, then others should have certain credence.

If I was to have any certain disparaging remarks, qualified as ever with my good self, it may be censured, with me being sanctioned and the thread closed.

For the sake of good order, I think the moderation is excellent, with a few faulty line calls, to use a tennis analogy or an unseen hand in the ruck to use a Rugby one.

It's funny how this area first exagerrated on Politics, only much later on porn

As a bartender & fly, I would have left politics till last.

It's okay.

We're too big. There's too many people here.

Admittedly, not a whole lot of 'em post, but I preferred it when I could feel more open here (ie: post pics, tell personal stories) which I do not feel I can do so much anymore.

Don't worry my friend, tell me and I will tell everyone.

I am glad porn has had a handle kept on it, I feel there is no place for it on a semi public area, (or anywhere else for that matter, but that is my own view) but I have always felt this Forum should be self-moderated, with only the mods getting involved when it gets to out of control.

I personally think this is manageable, when someone gets out of control or attacks somebody, let the members sanction them, if they don't comply, the mods then drop the sanctions.

Just a personal view.

Tiggs wants a " Paddled" cell please. Concur about the gravy.

I'm with Moss on this one - spot on.

You're just trying to be nice to him incase you are the first one up for a bit of class mod action :o

I have been and reread "Bedlam" Rules & Regulations and fear I have started a thread that falls foul of the following :

: What Bedlam isn't

Bedlam isn't a play ground or a boxing ring, its not a place to bully or be abusive to other members, its not a place to post gibberish or posts that make no sense, its not a place to post non Thailand political threads, pornography, full nudity or illegal content, its not a place to post links to other sites or discuss matters concerning the royal family or issues regarding moderation of the forum and its not a place to advertise your business.

Would a Moderator or Administration kindly close this thread before problems occur.

Thanking you in anticipation

LeungKen

Hope I get in before closing time but this cracked me up. :o

btw if I am before time I'll have two pints of bitter and a pack of cheese and onion crisps.

I agree with Moss also.

And am really pleased he only used one quote for his post here.

I'd swap the padding in my cell for a chocolate chip cookie :o , or two :D:D , or three :D:D:D , or...............

Aaaaagggghhhhh! Please nurse Diesel, no more meds today!

Bedlam my arse. T'was much better int' old days :D

I remember when it were just fields round here :D

I just love the way the mods have cleaned this place up :D:o

hink Bedlam is better than ever! In the 'old days' too many people hogged threads, most of the threads were dull, and nearly all died because posters started getting personal and abusive. As for when there were no rules - who wants porn or political debate in Bedlam? There are plenty of other sites that cater for that!

I'm very comfy here, thank you.

ps Had to laugh at the Bedlam rule 'no gibberish or nonsense'. That's get's broken nearly every thread! :o And Bedlam's the better for it!

I'm with Moss on this one - spot on.

Crickey :o

I agree with Moss also.

Well OC, I did check out your other posts, but couldn't find anything logical or interesting or relevant to quote. :D

Bedlam is fun, gibberish is fun, therefore

(bedlam x gibberish ) + (fun x fun)

= gibberfundlam.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Does that make sense???
:o ................ :D ............... :D ....... :D
If it did, it probably wouldn't be allowed here ! :D
the rules of bedlam were written when there were a lot more posters who were wanting & used every opportunity to, stir up shit. I can't recall the need for any of the mods to step in in recent months as posters now like the way things are going & self moderate, which is the way it should be.
that's just because the meds are so much better now... :o .....and we have so fluffy mods, too....and so cute admins.....who wants to discuss politics in such a cozy place?
can someone untie my jacket now?
....and then Bedlam morphed into a pyjama party
...its not a place to post gibberish or posts that make no sense,...
HMMM Is this the result of a freak trans-dimensional once in a million lifetimes occurrences that have merged the rules of this Bedlam with one from another realm?
I know, I haven't been any of those things for years.
However, I don't hang my shingle from other peoples efforts to quite the same degree as some.
An original thought or two, rather than always commenting on everyone elses, may establish more credibility :o:D
Bedlam my arse.
Had any offers yet?
Only when he's dancing at Jenny's ! :o
