This one, I did eat (in fact, I ate two after lunch today):

post-21260-1253378306_thumb.jpg

40-gramme bars. My wife saw them in a recently-opened supermarket in the neighbourhood and bought some to try before buying them in a large quantity to bring to Bangkok. I found it interesting in that it does not contain hazelnut chips like other chocolates with hazelnut but the nuts are apparently ground into a very fine powder that is then mixed into the cream. I could feel no solid bits of anything in the mouth.

Anyway, this chocolate got my approval, but I still prefer the plain milk chocolate from my favourite manufacturers and if I want hazelnuts, I eat those from my garden.

If it's chocolate & cake then it must be German. :) This one is extremely moist . . . as a good one should be :D

My dear old mother would make these from scratch.

Another great combo - chocolate and custard.

Tip - all the cakes look oh so yummy!

Maestro - the grounded hazelnut sounds appealing. I wonder if its similar to what they refer to as 'nougat filled' chocolates in Germany? cos they sure arent the nougat Im used to (my idea of nougat is that white sticky thing, but the German ones are just some sorta chocolaty smooth filling within the chocolate. same goes for nougat flavored ice cream)

anyhow, someone alluded to this chocolate, apparently Swiss. been told its really really good?

Maestro? whats your expert opinion/ :)

http://www.laederach.ch/en/produkte/

I've never seen the Läderach products but I can imagine that they are good. I see on their website that they've got a shop in Melbourne. Non in Thailand yet. Perhaps I should open one in Bangkok.

I can probably be hired to manage your shop :)

I mentioned the Guylain cafe in Sydney didnt I?

terrible service, and even the manager was pretty much useless. (will this be considered libel material?) grrrr

I know being a croc you would eat Federer Roger without any concern for the deprivation to the sports world :D

but others would like to have him alive and not become some croc's food :D:)

I thought Lindt was something that collected in belly buttons.

^ no, those are mouse droppings.

Warning About Chocolate

DO YOU EAT CHOCOLATE?

We were raised on chocolate as kids

and even into adulthood.

I will never eat it again.

and I hope, from now, on you will throw yours away whenever you get given any.

It seems as though nothing is safe to eat anymore.

This is what happens when you eat chocolate!

This is a warning, tell everyone you care about.

It could happen to you......or your friends.

Chocolate in the news:

Tagliatelle al cioccolato

I read a recipe for chocolate noodles today, published by Rita Fuso, the chef of the restaurant Malakoff in Bellinzona, Switzerland. It’s written in Italian, so no use posting it here, but I think I’ll go and try these noodles at her restaurant and if I like them I might then try out the recipe. It is for four persons, which means I will invite three guests. I’ll have to dust off the noodle machine which was bought 10 years ago and used just once, I believe.

I hear Patsy's looking for a date..... :)

My Italian is very rusty, but here goes:

Ingredients for 4

400g plain flour

50 g 90% pur choc

50g 70% pure choc

50g of agua

1-2 eggs, depending on consitency of the paste

1/2 teaspoon (?) of salt

In a (bain-marie?) mix the chocolate with water a let settle/combine

Put in your (pasta-maker??mixer/blender...) the flour and salt and then slowly add the melted chocolate.

Add the egg(s), (2 should be sufficient)/ When the paste/patty reaches the desired consistency, massage it by hand till it's a mass that is not too soft, but not too hard.

Then make the tagliatelle with the relevant utensil.

Cook the pasta in boiling salted water for a few minutes (drain when the noodles are barely floating) and season with butter and sage. Garnish with candied orange peel and a sprinkle of chopped pistachios.

The chocolate noodles fit perfectly with fish or (sweet?) meat (ostrich, bison)

YOUR AGE BY CHOCOLATE MATH

Don't tell me your age; you'd probably lie anyway-but the Hershey Man will know!

YOUR AGE BY CHOCOLATE MATH

This is pretty neat.

DON'T CHEAT BY SCROLLING DOWN FIRST!

It takes less than a minute .

Work this out as you read .

Be sure you don't read the bottom until you've worked it out!

This is not one of those waste of time things, it's fun.

<ATT00014.gif>

1. First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would like to have chocolate (more than once but less than 10)

2. Multiply this number by 2 (just to be bold)

3. Add 5

4. Multiply it by 50 -- I'll wait while you get the calculator

5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1759 ..

If you haven't, add 1758.

6.. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.

You should have a three digit number

The first digit of this was your original number

(i.e., how many times you want to have chocolate each week).

The next two numbers are

YOUR AGE! (Oh YES, it is!!!!!)

THIS IS THE ONLY YEAR (2009) IT WILL EVER WORK, SO SPREAD IT AROUND WHILE IT LASTS.

Chocolate

Calculator

why is Bkkmick crying?

no crying allowed on this thread!

and Jeff - I got that previously. its pretty cool eh?

have seen quite a number of recipes for chocolate main dishes. never tried any of them though......

Here is the link to the abstract of the scientific article in the European Heart Journal that was the basis for the above newspaper article:

Chocolate consumption in relation to blood pressure and risk of cardiovascular disease in German adults

How is your blood pressure, Mig16? Perhaps you can get chocolate on a doctor's prescription. I've been off chocolate for a month now and my pressure went up considerably. I think I'll go shopping tomorrow for some dark chocolate.
