Might not be real army. Uniform looks very large for this guy while the other one has civilian clothing on over the uniform.

Are they really soldiers or more of the mysterious black-shirts who opened fire back in April.

You can begin to see a man with a gun starting from 0:28 and start shooting at 0:36. He is neither a soldier or government officer. Kind of reminds me of the photo.

The fake Reds, the fake Yellows, the fake Windows, the fake "Louis Vuitton", the fake AK47, the fake M79, and now the fake army.... :):D:D

Then he got shot. Literally, minutes later.

And moments later, Thailand felt a little more safe and for the first time in a long while have hope.

Entropic environment. Unknown variables need removal or assimilation. Probably a lot more variables out there well hidden.

Closer look and can see they probably are army but not sure why "serious" explanation is needed. They got their back to a fence (looks like Lumpini) and are facing the reds who appear to be unarmed and just spouting propaganda to them. If the photo was a wider shot we might see more soldiers and these may be the soldiers that earlier reports say were cut off and surrounded by reds. Could be something more sinister going on but I doubt it ... also might help if we had a link to the original photo that might include some text of what we are seeing.

Army just blocked Rajaprarop. About 50 soldiers. Warning protesters from afar.

Protesters put up red roadblock next to overbridge at Indra Regent hotel.

Spectators cheering the soldiers. Pix and video to follow in a bit

Selling price of red Tshirts must be dropping like stone at Pratunam :)

Reading the above contribution you wouldn't believe that the reds are currently rioting exactly the same way as they did at Songkran 2009.

The only difference so far is that Thaksin later said that they were fake reds.

The above contributor's promises are so much confetti.

He is not interested in the scheduled state elections.

He is interested in supporting Thaksin's target.

A last ditch attempt.

With petrol bombs.

As promised by Arisman.

Perhaps the real reds should have a watermark so it's easier to spot the fake ones. :)

The live pics I've just seen on thai tv (channel 7) are just insane. There's people walking through the battle area chatting on mobile phones, motorbikes pootling throug Sala Daeng intersection, farangs with camera's walking around like there on the beach right among the protesters on the front line...troops taking cover behind concrete on the Thao-Belgian overhead pass as traffic goes by behind them and underneath them, just seen the No.4 (I think) orange bus chugging by!

The CRES really need to get a grip. Reporters and civilians should not be in the area, what the hel_l are buses still doing going over the overpass? And the troops shouldn't be standing by like a bunch of lost schoolboys without a teacher while protesters put a rope around the water canon and tip it on its side.

This has farce written all over it. Totally uncoordinated.

:)

There is just loud cheering and horn honking on the stage in Rajaprasong. Any idea what just happened?

Thaksin appeared from up Jatuporn's sleeve?

More likely post-rectally, much safer place to travel, more packaging.

And more in keeping with most of either of their speechifying.

Looks more like the Army guys are trying very hard not to have a confrontation. What would have them do, start shooting?

Just as a bit of humour, maybe... Andy maybe Robby can back me up on this one.

Just saw a clip on TNN where perhaps ten guys were pulling on a good-sized rope, trying to turn over a 6-wheel army truck.

Seems they should have come to New Zealand for some serious training in cow tipping! :)

I doubt very much if the are fake soldiers or the dept od Red propaganda would have given them yellow neckerchiefs and tied yellow ribbons to the barrels of their guns.

Yes, quite so.

No matter who did the 'removing', plenty of candidates,

the clean up opperation will be safer for it.

They should close down the skytrain also. I know it's not stopping at Chitlom, Siam etc but it's too tempting a target for the Reds and it's still going right thru their area. It would only take one M79 grenade make a real tragedy there and some of the Red security thugs don't care and seem to be enjoying the violence trying to outdo each other.

I trust that at least someone reliable is keeping a tally of the things the Reds are destroying. Last time I checked, if you or I destroy Thai property, particularly municipal, government or military, then we get in serious trouble. Will the same rule apply to protesters? Every day we hear of things getting destroyed or trashed, and weapons getting stolen. Today, we've heard of at least 3 military vehicles destroyed and one or two fire trucks and one or more public buses trashed, ....plus private vehicles and municipal security cameras destroyed. The list goes on and on. Who will be pressed to pay for all the damage?

Then there's the damage of all the lost business in the vicinity, but that's another topic.

quote from interview, right before Seh Daeng was shot:

Q : Your are not included?

K : I don't get involved with the protest.

He's funny in a macabre sort of way. Perhaps he'll get re-assigned from being an aerobics instructor to being a stand-up comic for deserting AWOL troops. About the only thing he waxed truthful about in the interview was that fact that the protest is all about bringing Thaksin back.

Those farangs who are walking around are taking unnecessary risks

Reporters is kind of different , its their job to report

Look on the bright side, these videos will be useful for other governments to use to teach their security forces what not to do to enforce crowd control, and how not to disperse a rowdy crowd.
