Annette Funicello Legendary Mouseketeer Dead at 70

Annette Funicello -- the undisputed queen of the "Mickey Mouse Club" -- has died, according to Disney's official fan club Twitter. She was 70.

Funicello was a triple threat -- Mouseketeer, pop singer and bigscreen star. She was huge in the 60's with movies like "Beach Party," Bikini Beach," and
"Beach Blanket Bingo."

According to "Extra," Annette had been hospitalized in Bakersfield due to complications from multiple sclerosis and had been in a coma.

Funicello disclosed in 1992 that she suffered from multiple sclerosis. She lost the ability to walk in 2004, could no longer speak by 2009 and required round-the-clock care.

Who Would Have Thought She'd Be Replaced By Mily Cyrus & Brittany Spears

RIP Annette.

I loved Annette...I didn't know about her health problems so maybe the news is a blessing...

rest in peace, darling girl...

Want to hear the latest example of Liberal skewed values?

The Boston Globe puts the death of Annette Funicello above the fold, Lady Thatcher's passing below:

One could perhaps understand this coming from the LA Times but the Boston Globe is/was supposed to be a newspaper of 'record'.

Umm, yes, or should I say YUM yes?

I'm from Philly too!

Why hijack the thread for God's sake? This is really annoying, go press your views & wishes somewhere else.

Sorry I hadn't realized my posts here which were initially in a response to a video showing Annette Funicello with Frankie Avalon were going to be perceived as hijacking the thread, and certainly hijacking the thread was never my intention. Have a Happy Songkran.

Incredible how these types of occasions can immediately transport one back to one's childhood - sitting in front of the old black and white HMV telly staring in utter adoration at Annette and thinking, even at my tender years, 'Yes, I definitely would'...

RIP

I have deleted an off-topic post about a person named Avalon, who is not mentioned in the OP, and the replies to it, and a post about "above the fold" which made no sense to me. Anybody wishing to discuss said person named Avalon is free to start on new topic on that subject.

The member posting about "above the fold" shall feel free to PM me to educate me on this subject.

The person "Avalon" was certainly mentioned in the OP.

Got the explanation for "above the fold". Above the fold I see the headline UNDER ALL-SEEING EYES and in the narrow column on the right House passes transit measure. There is some kind of Mickey Mouse image in the narrow column on the left, roughly half of which would be visible above the fold, under the small title In the News, but I don't count this as a headline for Annette Funicello.

I did not get the impression that you wanted your obituary for Anette Funicello to become a discussion of the actors, of whom there must be many, with whom she appeared in movies, nor would this seem appropriate, ie it would be off topic.
