BANGKOK, Dec 16 – The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) will probe an allegation against 20 financiers who supported the anti-government People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC), a senior official said.

DSI director Tarit Pengdith said he received a complaint from Pheu Thai spokesman Prompong Nopparit, seeking a investigation into the list of 20 people and private companies who have financially supported the PDRC activities.

Mr Prompong’s complaint was also submitted to the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO).

AMLO secretary general Seehanat Prayoonrat said he would check if Mr Prompong had enclosed the names of 20 financiers, adding that there must be sufficient evidence to freeze their financial support.

Mr Prompong said the financiers should stop their support now that a general election has been officially announced.

“The DSI and AMLO must take legal action against the financiers, or they could be charged with ignoring their duties,” he said.

The government has set the general election for February 2. (MCOT online news)

Resurrecting this old bit of news again.

Nothing will come of it, they have done nothing wrong, unless this new bit of legislation invented for this purpose actually stands up in court, which it won't.... 'charged with ignoring their duties'..... indeed.

Desperate measures. Will come to nothing at all.

Any request for investigation, that comes from the PT to the DSI, will be acted upon....

We should all know by now.....nothing happens to these people (Nopparit and company)...convictions or not....they appear to have total immunity.

Pheu Thai asks EC to take legal action against Suthep

BANGKOK: -- The Pheu Thai Party Monday petitioned the Election Commission to launch an investigation against the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) for having allegedly violated the election law.

Pheu Thai spokesman Prompong Nopparit filed the petition after PDRC secretary general Suthep Thaugsuban announced his intention to obstruct election process. Suthep also announced that he would pus for postponement of the snap election from four to eight mounts.

Prompong noted that Suthep had said Network of Students and People for Reform of Thailand (STR) adviser Nitithorn Lamlua would lead protesters to obstruct party-list candidacy registration next week. As a result, Suthep and Nitithorn had clear intention to obstruct election process, Prompong alleged.

The threats from Tarit seem to be aimed at frightening the opposition into submission! They must be making the law as they go along, in desperation of silencing them. unbeleiveable that an individual cannot support financially a political movement of his choice! Unless its PTP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Proof if ever you needed it, that this lot aren't fit to be in government.

Oh the hypocrisy of it.

Financial support would include the per diem for the thugs on the streets, including the ones planning to storm the US embassy.? That could get very nasty if companies are involved

No, they're not. It's very specific who is supposedly planning to take over the US Embassy. Only somebody thinking that suthep is the answer would be that stupid.

Mind you if suthep is the answer it must have been one stupid @#%$ing question.

Well technically he's in caretaker mode but more importantly this arch criminal is awaiting the courts decision on his bail.

But of course you would have already known that if you'd bother to read your own link!

Thanks for the flowers,

but this was more a rhetorical question.

I am still of the opinion that convicted criminals have no place in the government or in a public offices.
