Surprise surprise..Abhisit Vejjajiva's Son "Fails" Military Draft Medical Exam

From the totally not unexpected news department, the son of the ammart anti-democracy Democrat Party leader, abhisit vejjajiva, has been exempted from military service for some unspecified medical reason by his military draft board. Fighting and dying in the south of Thailand and other places is fine for the son's of praai farmers but not apparently for the son's of old Etonians.

Surprise, surprise: Thailand is a political cesspool.

Has a great advantage for Farangs, receiving monthly payments from overseas. The Bht will likely stay weak.

If they should get their act together overnight, the Bht would strengthen quickly.

SO: Enjoy the ride !

Cheers.

The underlying general point remains though - I know it's very rare in the US for the elite, that's so quick to send the lower-class boys to war, to allow their sons to get in harm's way.

The above post is a load of ****

Bush postponed college, enlisted in the U.S. Navy on his 18th birthday, and became the youngest aviator in the U.S. Navy at the time. Bush's aircraft was hit by flak and his engine caught on fire. Despite his plane being on fire, Bush completed his attack and released bombs over his target, scoring several damaging hits. With his engine ablaze, Bush flew several miles from the island, where he and one other crew member on the TBM Avenger bailed out of the aircraft.

In case anyone didn't know the Bush's and the Kennedy's are as close to royal families as one can get in the USA.

If you check in countries with draft the big politicians you will be shocked that the majority wasn't at the army for reasons that would never work for the normal guy.

Then he should have stated the case in that manner. You can't cover up the fact that OMG has made a complete ass of himself and should submit a correction and apology.
From your posting history, I gather you may be Thai. If this is so, is it true Abhisit can barely speak Thai?

Autism is the catch-all psychological illness for all young people, especially males, these days. It can mean just about anything (and I'm sure is interpreted very liberally for the son's of the ammart by well compensated draft board members). If in fact the son in question has severe mental disabilities then of course he would be properly exempt from military service. However, that's not how it was reported in the news and that's all I have to go on.

This thread is an example of the downside of the internet.

An ignorant poster starts a thread with no idea of the background of the issue.

I hope he apologises.

appears he's a farang in Pattaya .enough said

Furthermore to other ignoramus Abhisit speaks perfect Thai and English.

I said rare, not never.

And much rarer IMO in more modern times.

Rare? Common would be more like it. Don't tell me...... you are the American who was raised in another country. Well, in America war service used to be a prerequisite for political office. Ask the elite of elites, John Kerry or John McCain. You know Senator McCain he was that Vietnam POW.

I did say more modern times, you go even further back.

And topic's got nothing to do with Amerika - where I was raised I'm ashamed to say.

And what do politicians have to do with true elite? Working grunts, puppets, lackeys. . .

WWII is modern times. Just admit you were wrong and get on with it. Politicians come from Americas elite. Bush, Roosevelt, Kennedy. The Ivy league led WWII and Vietnam was managed by the Big 10 and West coast. Your contention was. "I know it's very rare in the US for the elite, that's so quick to send the lower-class boys to war, to allow their sons to get in harm's way." is false. Actually in America the elites normally enlist and lead the wars. Henry Ford II served in the Navy during WW II and they don't get any more elite than Ford in the USA.

WWII is ancient history, so's Vietnam at this point.

Because you are illiterate does not mean you get to change definitions of words to suit your lack of education.

Ancient History is the history of the ancient civilizations of the Mediterranean area and the Near East up to the fall of the Western Roman Empire in AD 476.

The study or a course of study of history before the end of the Western Roman Empire a.d. 476.

(Historical Terms) the history of the ancient world from the earliest known civilizations to the collapse of the Western Roman Empire in 476 a.d

If you want more pedantic argument instead of just admitting you are clueless when it comes to American culture go somewhere else.

You're just cherry-picking examples from POLITICAL figures, of course being a war hero helps you get elected.

Take the top 10% of asset-owning families, or by income in any country and see how many of their children have died in the front lines.

Now take the bottom 10% - or the bottom 90 if you like and compare the percentage.

Pretty obvious what you'd find, no?

Ed McMahon (Tonight Show, Jerry Lewis Telethon, Star Search) was a fighter pilot Marine in WW II, served in the Korean conflict, and retired as a Colonel. He later became a Brigadier General in the California Air National Guard.

Eddie Albert (Green Acres TV) was awarded a Bronze Star for his heroic action as a U. S. Naval officer aiding Marines at the horrific battle on the island of Tarawa in the Pacific Nov. 1943.

Alec Guinness (Star Wars) operated a British Royal Navy landing craft on D-Day.
