Jemani Ikhsan, 63, was caught after taking a flight from Singapore to Phuket.

PHUKET: -- An Indonesian man has been arrested at Phuket International Airport trying to smuggle 5.2 kilos of cocaine onto the island.

Jemani Ikhsan, 63, was caught at the airport after he stepped off a flight yesterday evening (April 20) from Singapore.

The drugs, worth B15.6 million, were in plastic packets covered with tinfoil and concealed in three books with the centres cut out, and also in rolls wrapped in foil, and were traced as Jermani's luggage passed through the security x-ray machines.

He had flown to Singapore from Bogota, Colombia, the world capital of cocaine production and sales, and home to some of the world’s most powerful drug cartels.

Police have stated that Jermani was due to deliver the drugs to a dealer in Khao Lak.

More details to come.

X-Ray at arrival in Phuket. Why do I found that so hard to believe? Why wasn´t he caught in the X-Ray machine when boarding in Columbia already, or at least when boarding in Singapore?

Why are nobody pointing their fingers at him?

According to the police, a kilogram is worth about 3 million baht. Amazing how police exaggerate the value of drugs just to make their busts seem more important. According to online research, 1 kg in california is about 500,000 baht. That is a 600% exageration

So? How much is 1 kg in Phuket? And don't forget to include the purity in your prices, both on the market and of the bust. Edited by stevenl

Suicide

Why didn't the BIB let him deliver the drugs to Khao Lak and bust the top guy.

Any way death penalty would be appropriate.

The weird thing about your post is the obvious contradiction caused by your social conditioning and media manipulation of your mind.

You almost got it when you said: why didn't the BIB let him deliver the drugs to Khao Lak and bust the top guy..

You then failed by saying: Any way, death penalty would be appropriate.

Sit down and think about those two statements. Soon a light bulb will come on.

Imagine if he was your son, or your father.

That is probably street value after it has been cut. If this is coming straight from Columbia, the dealer hasn't cut it yet. I am basing that off of what I paid per gram on the street about 30 years ago, 500k would be about right assuming price increase.

The mule was arrested and will spend the rest of his life in Thai jail, but his family is probably wealthy by now.

The drug kingpin lost 5.2 kilos of cocaine this time but how many tons have he smuggled to Thailand so far?

PHUKET: -- Immigration police arrested an Indonesian at Phuket international airport Monday night after he tried to smuggle 5.2 kilogrammes of cocaine worth 15.6 million baht into Thailand.

The illicit drug was hidden in three hollowed-out hardcover books and six rolls of fax paper.

The suspect, Jamanai Igsan, claimed that he was hired to carry two baggages to be delivered to a man at Phuket international airport without knowing that there were drugs hidden inside. The drug would then be sent to Phang-nga.

Immigration police said that the drug originated from Columbia.

I never knew Phuket and California were the same place or physically near to each other and under the same government. What has the price in Calif got to do with the price in Phuket?

It's like comparing the price of a Merc 500SL in California and Phuket clue they are not close!
