Well, I'm in Surin Province and ended up designing my own western kitchen using tile and granite. The "European Kitchen" suppliers were crazy over priced and the materials used were mostly particle board/laminate and won't hold up to the heat/humidity + usage (even if Air-conditioning used 24-7) for the price. Can design your own and buy the appliances easily.

UPVC windows and doors are available (should be in Buriram) at the stores you listed but in certain sizes and no sash. I opted or local aluminum frame windows for ease and custom sizing done on the spot.

In Pattaya/Chonburi there are these 2 places:

Hope this helps some...

Your absolutely right IMO; concrete structure with tiled splash back, granite worktop/s and free-standing appliances is the way to go here.

I cannot disagree, we too looked at the "pro" kitchen suppliers and then went with concrete structure, granite top and those hardwood door units which actually come out quite easily should flooding rear its ugly head, cheaper and more durable :)

Only built in appliance is the hob (and the sink, is that an 'appliance'?).

These building guys are masters with concrete and reo.

We are just having a second outside (sorta ) kitchen built using blocks, cement, reo and store built ins. Way to go.

I certainly agree with the above four replies. I have checked out Starmark and other brands of factory built kitchens. It worked out for me to have reasonable local labor build both indoor and outside kitchens for a couple of homes in Buriram province. My next home will have Diamond Counter in the bathrooms and the Western Kitchen and the Thai Kitchen. You can see this cost effective kitchen in Buriram near Robinson Lifestyle Center at Lively Home Estate. Building materials and fittings in that housing project were selected and bought if were better, faster or less money.  The youtube video will show that any isaan home building labor man or woman can build a nice termite proof level kitchen or bathroom counter in less than one day with Diamond Counter or the Q-Con counter. https://youtu.be/WSWbz9uu7fA   Both videos on youtube show how easy this counter can be for local labor.

Only kitchen (cupboards, top etc) around 90K. Appliances was around 60K. We built a new room, a concrete structure on a normal Thai house. Around 25 sqm, which was around 100K+ as well. Can't remember exactly.

So all the units and work top 90k, that's not to bad. Are you happy with the quality of the units?

The quality is great. Two years now, no problems. Everything comes with 25 years guarantee. We didn't put A/C in this room, so heat and humidity is no problem. My parents built the same kitchen in Norway. Same did my brother. They are super happy with it. Soft close, smart solutions. I designed everything myself using IKEA kitchen designer online. Built it myself with the help from a few local Thai guys, which had experience with "built-in". They were also impressed by the looks and quality when everything was done.

I like that, are those tiles on the walls, they look very nice. I take it the Mrs wanted that dark window over the sink?

As far as windows go I looked far and wide for good double glazed upvc windows and found nothing reasonably priced. I think the white aluminum framed windows and sliding doors are bang for the buck your best bet. I would have paid more than double for good double glazed but they are a lot more than that. I think the lines on the aluminum ones are much more defined and the profile of the frames so much thinner, they look great.

Tiles yea. Just normal tiles, which we cut in three pieces with a normal tile cutter. Would be nicer with actual tiles in that size, but for some strange reason we couldn't find it in KK.

Dark Windows? Its already dark outside :D

I have double Glazing in my condo, and in my new house. Its totally awesome! Can't compare with cheap alu frames and 3mm glass.

I agree 100%, but the cost, uncertainty, and unavailability in my area convinced me to go with the nice looking inefficient alternative,  I have no noise issue and the saved AC would have taken much longer than my lifetime to pay the difference. I put all double glazed in my US home but then if you don't the frost will pile up on the inside. Cheers

Grubster:  I've been blessed in Buriram Province to hire a "kitchen man" who builds fine quality kitchens and bathroom counters. I also was fortunate to hire a real carpenter for cabinets, drawers and other built in wood furniture. I am sold on using Diamond Block counter sections for my next home, with granite counter tops and wooden cabinets and drawers. All done to a high build quality compared to factory made sets I had priced at big box retailers or Ikea. Ikea kitchens are a real option for those who have not found craftsmen in their province. I have seen in my small town an Ikea kitchen bought and installed in 2016. It looks great and that home owner is happy.   The Q Con Kitchen Counter Blocks and the Diamond AAC kitchen or bathroom counter blocks are available in Buriram and can be built in less than one day. It took weeks to build our current kitchen counters with steel and concrete as the base counter material. When building a kitchen in Buriram I experienced which stores were on time with special order parts and which store was two weeks late with cabinet and drawer door handles.

Update

The outside Lao kitchen is finished, just cleaning up after the cleaning up. Not bad and SWMBO very happy to have an outside kitchen. Something got lost in translation between my idea of an outside Lao kitchen and my wife's idea of a Lao kitchen. Bloody falang influence again.

So kitchen and extensions looking good. [emoji4]
