SUPHAN BURI: -- Police have arrested two suspects in the gang rape of a 14-year-old Suphan Buri girl last November and are seeking arrest warrants for two more people, including a 20-year-old woman.

The investigation saw immediate progress after lawyer Songkran Atchariyasap, who chairs a network that seeks to counter affronts to the nation, religion and the monarchy, arranged for the victim’s family to air their grievances directly to Deputy National Police Commissioner Lt General Srivara Ransibrahmanakul at a meeting on Tuesday.

The network felt that the police had been reluctant to take action against alleged attackers, possibly because one of the suspects is the son of a retired police officer.

Songkran said there was “convincing evidence” to suggest the girl was drugged at a gaming café before being sexually assaulted.

On Wednesday, the Anti-Human Trafficking Division applied for arrest warrants for a third and fourth suspect in the case, one of them a 20-year-old woman. They are suspected of trying to procure the girl for sexual services following the attack.

Five months to start making arrests, because one of the suspects is a retired Police Officers son? And even then they only did it because of pressure brought to bear by a prominent lawyer.

This is the rape of a 14 year old for Gods sake. There should be no protection from justice, for anyone, regardless of who your dad is and it's about time the bloody cops started to understand that. And the kids of prominent people need to start getting the message too.

Not to mention proper sentences too then, not just slaps on the wrists for the most atrocious things yet the rice farmer with a broken tail light or w/e gets a life sentence and that kinda stuff. Then again, been preached enough on this forum already, which just brings us back to....

...you can lead a horse monkey to water, but...

Songkran Atchariyasap is a real hero.  Almost every news story that involves people being taken advantage of or ignored by the police seems to also feature him as the one who stands up for their rights.

Speaking of kids of prominent people, what ever happened to those kids that killed the disabled baker?

If it was a farang that had raped a 14 year old, you can absolutely guarantee he would have been arrested in no time at all.

There would have been so many cops in the photo shoot, the photographer would have needed a wide screen lens.

Son of a Thai copper and Ho-hum! Let's just wait and see if it all blows over. Is it only me that thinks this is utterly wrong?

There appears to be little sense of responsibility, accountability, decency or humanity among the ruling class. :post-4641-1156693976:

Is this what true Buddhism teaches them? I think not.

May "the force be with you" Songkran Atchariyasap!

This is the tip of the iceberg in Thailand. Many underage and young girls are being coaxed into prostitution, either by sexual intimidation and then getting them hooked on drugs but mainly by evil people operating as agents for pimps who lure the girls onto the game with promises of making big money.

30 years ago in England I used to be a taxi driver for a local mini cab service. There I met another taxi driver named Eric. It was well known he was an agent for a prostitution racket, in fact he used to boast about it. At one time I asked him about his role as an agent to seek out girls for prostitution? Eric told me that he and some others would befriend young vulnerable girls, some as young as 13, from child care homes and broken homes and then groom them to be prostitutes, as it`s a look easier then most people think. These agents would pretend to be their boyfriends and buy the girls food and gifts. Then asked if they would would visit one of their mates as a favour for money owned as a debt. If some girls refused to oblige, they would be raped or even beaten and gang raped and forced into it. Once these girls fell under the controls of criminal pimps and grew more and more dependant on hard drugs, it was virtually impossible for them to escape from it. Quite a lot are trafficked abroad where they later become institutionalised sex workers, many remaining abroad for several years.

This is happening on a mass scale in Thailand and probably in other countries of the world, quite often with the full cooperation of their families whose daughters are bought from them by the pimps. There is more to this then we ever get to know about, the OP has only been one such case.
