The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) will give two weeks to clarify all the 25 pricey wristwatches Gen Prawit Wongsuwan wore on different occasions.

This was disclosed on Wednesday (Feb 21) by the NACC chairman  as he spoke of the latest update on the watches owned by Gen Prawit Wongsuwan, the deputy prime minister and defence minister.

He said as far as he knew, the NACC investigators have notified Gen Prawit to clarify all the 25 watches he wore on different occasions within two weeks.

  • Yes, but he is on notice now. He either clarifies the matter in no more than two weeks or else he will be given more time. The pressure is on...

  • Finally, I am starting to get my head around how Thai Niyom works.

  • What a maroon.   He's the bloody chairman of the NACC, he's got to be a bit more 'knowledgeable'?   It is truly amazing that this farce has gone on this long...everyone knows that

You got to love this in the same  speech the minister adds this. So the 2 weeks actually is just smoke and mirrors

Asked on possible postponement of his two-week clarification, the chairman said Gen Prawit might be busy at work or needed more time to make clarification of each watch.

But he said it was normal for extension of clarification time as this was permitted by law

Don't you just love these moving deadlines...

Just what/why exactly does anyone NEED 25 watches???

If I had 25 watches, I wouldn't even know what to do with them.

Unless of course, I didn't really care about the watches themselves, but just considered their value to be a nice little supplement to my Army/government pension courtesy of whomever provided them....

No I don't , just like i don't like how slow the wheels of justice turn here... just read a case from 2008 that ends in some people going to jail in 2018. No wonder that everyone is really corrupt here, either deadlines get moved or justice (if meted out at all) goes so slow. Thailand needs a major overhaul of so many things before we can even begin to attack corruption.

Plus that as long as corruption is so profitable you will keep having people fight for positions of power and the circle of coups and violence will go on.

You said it yourself: he is perfectly knowledgeable. He has to be, given he is part of orchestrating the cover up and subsequent whitewash.

Lucky man unlike Yingluck not given the luxury of more time for witnesses.

I thought he clarified it already.

Various friends lent him the watches and he's given them back now.

"Can I borrow you 1.4 million baht Rolex?"

"Why don't you buy your own?"

"Can't, Prayuth says not to spend our booty now, it might look corrupt"

"But your running the country, surely you can fix the books"

"Yeah, If Premchai can eat black panther penis and get away with it then I can have a sh1t load of bling"

"Treat yourself Prawit, Prayuth got those magic rings"

"Yeah, I will, thanks"

Oh! poor little Yinnie - she was so disadvantaged, couldn't call another dozen or more witnesses to sprout the same nonsense.

2 more weeks to fabricate/destroy evidence

And the absurd theater continues.

The whole thing is very reminiscent of a kindergarten. The intellectual level is terrifying.

This is all so farcical and insulting to the public. I remember that a week ago Prawit was granted one more week to 'clarify' matters - bringing the deadline to 15 February. Today is 21 February, and the Pig now  gets another two weeks - and more time beyond that if needs be.

What can one say? And some people still think these are 'the good people'. Sometimes one needs the patience of a saint to live in this land ...!

Lets see how it goes on. In two weeks probably Prawit then has other important business dates.

Prawit given more time to clarify on watch case

By THE NATION

f2eb6ee59a7c021ed9bbf661d70bec6b.jpeg

The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) expects to get a clarification from deputy premier Prawit Wongsuwan over the controversial luxury watch case next month, further extending the deadline for the anti-graft agency to wrap up the politically-sensitive case.

Prawit has been accused of not declaring the 25 expensive watches he has been seen wearing on different occasions.

According to NACC chairman Pol General Watcharaphol Prasarnrachakit, Prawit will be asked to verify the specific incident in which he was alleged to have one of the 25 luxury watches on his wrist before the agency can go ahead with this case.

Corruption index

A notice will be sent to Prawit in the next one or two days. After that, the embattled deputy premier will have another 15 days to respond to the agency’s request, so the case will become clearer in March at the earliest. Previously, Prawit postponed meetings with the anti-graft agency three times due to his busy work schedule.

Meanwhile, the NACC is closely monitoring the announcement of 2017 Corruption Perception Index (CPI) by Transparency International in which Thailand last year received just 35 points out of a total 100.

The government earlier said it aims to reduce corruption so that the country gets 50 or more points by 2021. At present, the CPI covers a total of 180 countries worldwide.

Really looks like they are right on track! Meaning if they give people an enormuos amount of days extra to clarify, maybe it get forgotten and can be buried with all the other skeletons of corruption that pushes the clothes out of the wardrobe.
