Thai Baht Set to Weaken as US Tariff Tensions Escalate
Yes, this article looks like a story searching for a headline. Thailand doesn't export steel or aluminium to the US. They sell rubber #1, machinery and some other odds and sods that they manufacture here. And of course rice and shrimp. So the article's premise is questionable. Of course, if Stump follows through and taxes everything coming into the country at 25% then yes, a game changer. -

What should I look for when buying private insurance?
Personally I advise against a Thai issued policy (which means AA Brokers cannot help). Get a good internationally issued expat policy, at your age and assuming good health premiums will be affordable and you will have full range of choice of policies. Use a broker experienced with expat policies. Personally I use https://www.aoc-insurancebroker.com/ you need minimum cover equal to $150,000 per event, or say $250,000 per year, but any international policy will be at least that anyhow Not worth getting optional OPD cover but make sure hospitalization policy includes high ticket outpatient care eg cancer care, dialysis. Things to look for: - direct payment arrangements with large range of Thai hospitals - hospital coverage also includes outpatient cancer care and dialysis - IF you may remain in Thailand into your old age, then make sure lifetime renewal guaranteed. - good record of paying claims (broker can help on this) -
