Que?

73 bhp

50 Ibs ft torque

204 kgs wet weight

is overkill?

I'll tell you what overkill is.

a 1250cc 250 kg 125 bhp GS bus masquerading as a touring bike capable of a bit of off road.

Not only is that overkill, it also contravenes the trades description act.

What's the speed limit for bikes here?

90.

20 hp can do 150kph.

Speed limit is 120 in the UK, 130 many other places, but people still buy 260 kph bikes.

If the above was true we would all be limited to a CRF250, which is a motorcycle i would not want to do serious mileage on tarmac roads on. Or even worse an M Slaz.

So what about Ready To Race Orange bikes then?

A 1290 KTM with 160 bhp and a cool mil odd Baht?

The Tenere looks like a sensible option, especially for electronics technophobes like myself.

Here's my fave colour scheme.

Only the old Speedblocks/ Kenny Roberts Yellow/Black would better it.

Why? Prolly ego/status thing.?

Unfamiliar. For racing.? Preference for citrusy colour?   dunno.

With proper tire & gearing CRF is perfectly adequate.

Have seen MSlaz cooking along at 120; 2-up & bags.

I ain't condoning this sort of thing but take a look as some in the Industry are saying this is part of the future of bikes ..
Top bike has a 3D printed frame though still a mock up at this time ..
Bottom one is also said to be 3D printed though that shape would be quite achievable in a conventional machine shop anyway .. The circular shape frame does make a lot of sense from an engineering point of view but is not easy to make aesthetically pleasing shall we say ..
5 axis millers and routers could theoretically make similar to the lattice one though i suspect would be quite time consuming ..

Commissioned by BMW to advertise their new upcoming motor, the R18.
A pushrod 1800cc flat twin.
One Thousand And Eight Hundred cc's.
Two cylinders.
Can you imagine revving it off idle at the traffic lights? And trying to hold on and not flung off hard right?
IMHO it makes the Triumph Bobber look like a Dinky toy, and another nail in the HD coffin.
Stunning, just stunning.
Retro Heritage is an oft used term but in this case....
If the production model  looks just 75% like this i will sell my left testicle and remortgage the land, house, wife, anything.

What is meant by a “flat twin”?

Surely it not flat heads?

Great article in the business section of the bangkok Post about the Janus Motorcycle manufactured in Goshen, Indiana. Each bike is built and assembled by hand by local crafts people. They do buy a 300cc engine manufactured in China. They hand build all of the frames and other parts. The bike looks a bit like those built back in the 20s and 30s
