Hi, living in Isaan, I renewed my Aussie Passport online last year. Got photos done at local shop after giving them the guidelines in the application form. New Passport arrived in mail in about 3/4 weeks. Very surprised how easy it was.

Did you need to get an Australian to sign/witness the photos ?

I've said this elsewhere and been shouted down but different Australian government departments assess residency for their own purposes in different ways.

Just wondering how many Ozzies are aware that after 75th burthday you can renew your passport for 5 years rather than 10. Half price.

All info and forms on the Australian Embassy Bangkok  Website. Prices have gone up. No witnesses required to sign. Just have to give the name and address of another Australian  person. I gave my brother’s in Brisbane . All good.

Was giving name / Thailand address and phone no, 30+ years Australian friend now resident in Thailand mentioned as acceptable?

I've several times used a guy from Brisbane, resident for many years in Chiang Mai to countersign my signature on 2 different Oz gov't forms for Certificate of Life documents. He's authorised by the Australian gov't / Queensland gov't to countersign. Wonder if I could quote his name / address / email address / mobile no on the passport renewal form?

So I get a laughing joker emoji.

At 75 yo Aussies can elect to renew their passport for 5 years instead of the standard 10 yearsm, at half price. Not a joke, fact.

I wonder if moving to Thailand increases or decreases an Aussie's life expectancy.

Decreases when you waffle on endlessly & hi-jack threads about an Australian government age pension with portability. Oh....please.🙃🙃

The thread tile is "Australian Aged Pension."  That covers EVERYTHING about the aged pension, not just portability.

Interesting how someone in Australia can never claim a cent from Centerlink their whole life, whilst someone else, who is able bodied, can live on Centerlink their whole life, never paying a cent in income tax.

There was no mention of a Thai tax ID or Thai tax return by the IO.
