The dilemma for me, is that they may not accept the proof of income letter showing I have 40k income per month in my UK account (as they used to), so if I now need to prove I have 400k in a Thai bank account, this can't be done overnight, I was hoping to apply for extension the first week in December.

I don't understand your issue if your applying for a marriage extension early December.

You can apply online now for the BE Income letter.

Be sure to apply for a re-entry permit when you get the extension.

Why would you apply for  re-entry permit? Can be done at any time prior to your trip and is valid as long as the extension is.

Does anyone know if you can email the British Embassy the application form etc for proof of income, or by post only?

You can do it online.

https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/746575/Pension_application_form_October_2018.pdf

Scroll down the page to download the application form and payment authorisation form.

Well if he's doing an extension and has a planned trip back to the UK, why not get the re-entry permit at the same time as the extension. Saves any messing around later.

Right click on the document to print or Save As.

You complete them by hand.

You then scan your proof of income (bank statement etc), application form and payment authorisation form into your PC

Attach them to your mail addressed to their e- mail address.

Done it for the last 3 years by email. Then I go to BKK to collect and pay in cash. Told them I do not have a credit card. Just as well I did this year as they got it wholly wrong and had to wait for them to redo the letter!!

I think that the Embassy is just putting out more "Fake" news!

So not a "specialism" confined to the British Embassy, then!

I have Adobe Acrobat Reader DC and there were still some fields that could not be completed because they were a photo rather than a text box that could be filled in. I ended up completing by hand including the credit card form and took photographs of all the copies. I compressed the megabits of the photos and sent via email. My letter arrived this week in exactly 10 working days.

so after the recent announcement from Phuket Immigration about the income letter, I mailed them, and continued our conversation from 10 days ago and asked them if it was now ok to use the income letter and this was the reply I got from the voulenteer,

As you from the UK and don't have a pension you only can use the Thai bank account with the 400.000 Baht for your marriage extension.

whats going on???, or is it a case of the volunteers not knowing that the pension/proof of income is the same letter???

as I said, kick 'em out

they are not knowledgeable - barstool idiots

so, Brits having a regular stream of cash other than pension cannot use an income certificate?

it is a grand mistake to use uneducated barstool nitwits to handle Thai government matters

I find them helpful - if you foresee potential problems  go and see them - ask advice

I don't understand what you find is wrong with their answer ??

Number one is that he will have a income letter from the UK embassy.

And he is applying for an extension of stay based upon marriage. He is younger than 50 years old and does not have a pension.

They are saying the only income accepted is from a pension to apply in Phuket.

The police order for extensions of stay does not say it has to be a pension and certainly not a government one.

From clause 2.18 of police order 138/2557.

Quote

5. Only for Criteria (5) paragraph 1 and (6), the applicant must attach a funds deposit certificate issued by a bank in Thailand and a copy of a bankbook, or attach documents proving that the parents or alien husband earns an average monthly income of no less than Baht 40,000 throughout the year, such as any particular individual income tax return together with payment receipt, evidence of receiving retirement pension, evidence of receiving interest from funds deposit, or evidence of having other funds issued by the relevant agency.

Note that it states "such as" which means for example.

Received my proof of income letter yesterday from the BE. It contained spelling mistakes on both the envelope and the letter itself, as well as grammatical errors and an error in punctuation.

All part of the service at £52.

That's all fine and dandy but until Phuket immigration change their mind they don't accept it.

For the time being they only accept the UK income letter from a government or military pension.

Other income without the embassy letter is not accepted.

So if you think that they are wrong (i agree with you that they are) you should them tell them that.

It's easy to say that the volunteers know nothing but they are there and just repeat what the officers do.

Hopefully the people will tell the officers that they are wrong and demand the extension with their income papers.

Lets see who wins, I'm afraid it's the officer.
