PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN, 31 October 2018 (NNT) - Hua Hin City is gathering viewpoints in bid to set a tourism development plan and make it a key tourist destination in the southern region.

Hua Hin City's Vice Mayor Bussaba Choksuchat presided over the brainstorming workshop in keeping with the 20-year national strategy, to lay development plans within the Second Lower Central Region Province Group, which will be proposed for funding in fiscal 2020.

The brainstorm session focused mainly on the promotion of tourist activities in Hua Hin, upgrading the city as the key tourist destination and complying with the government's Thailand Riviera campaign.

With the new tourism plan in place, Hua Hin City anticipates to become a world-class tourist destination through development and cooperation between the public and private sectors.

Burying the unsightly and in some cases, dangerous, overhead cables, repairing all the broken pavements and drain covers plus generally tidying up the centre of the town would go a long way to make Hua Hin more attractive to tourists and residents alike.  Just now the centre looks nothing like the tourist attraction it pretends to be.

Horse before the cart as usual.

Another hub to dream about.

Start wish making it easier for the (quality) expats and retirees in Hua Hin,  on their issues of visa, extension of stay, xx day reporting, driving licence etc..... requirements,

Increase the frequency of the 20 Bhat buses and establish routes from downtown to Black Mountain Golf.

But no dreaming....none of this will happen...welcome to 4.0

Hua Hin has some very obvious critical issues to address. they are known and ignored;

1. Lack of proper access: There needs to be improved rail access or a better rail timetable. The current filthy diesel rail cars that stop every 20 km are useless. The schedule is awful. Offer commuter air service to HHQ.  If Air Asia can do flights for 1200 baht within Thailand, surely a couple flights a day from DMK/BKK, especially during peak season for foreign visitors would be brilliant.  Even a fast ferry from BKK would help. Bring the ferry back to Hua Hin town. It's ridiculous to force the majority of pax to travel out to the mudflats of KT. The majority of  ferry users are tourists and they are going to HH town.

2. Water quality: The raw sewage discharge must stop.

3. Preservation of beach access: The illegal sunbed, jet ski and restaurant operators must be  contained. The  kite school monopolies in respect to beach access must be stopped.

4. traffic congestion and road safety: Hua Hin has one major thoroughfare that is  blocked on the weekend and on holidays. The  limited cross overs and traffic light options make it a pedestrian nightmare. The refusal of local police to enforce parking and speed laws make it unpleasant and dangerous for visitors.

170 THB for "grilled corn"?  And I used to think Ruth's Chris was extorting charging 5 USD for a baked potato.  There are at least a 1000 case studies in HH on bad business practices.

They should do a few more raids on small hotels and guest houses to make sure all get closed down to wipe out all affordable accomodation and then all quality tourist will come , local and foreign to fill up 4-5 star hotels
