PHUKET:-- A Phuket expat escaped deadly injury today as he was struck by power cables that were pulled down by a cement truck in Chalong earlier today (Feb 8).

The 10-wheeled truck pulled down four power poles, Soi Anusorn, off Patak Rd, in Moo 10, Chalong, just before 12:25pm.

Telephone and internet cables were also pulled down in the accident, as were street signs and local council signs. A white Chevrolet sedan was also damaged in the incident.

So that explains the reasoning behind the worst traffic jams I have ever experienced in Phuket today. One road closed and traffic tailing back for miles on both Chaofa East and West.

1 hour 45 minutes from Central to Karon this afternoon!

So did he escape without serious injuries?  Hard to tell from the picture,

Heavy trucks have no business being on those back streets using that shortcut.

Thailand really tests my patience today due to this.

Going to pick up kids from school and returning took over 3 hours.

Can't wait for this tunnel to finish.

What? Nothing wrong with the brakes?  Then it must have been the expat who pulled down those poles with his motorbike.

The trouble with the brakes was that he didn't apply them before driving into low hanging wires.

Thankfully, yes he did................

Local residents quickly assisted the foreign man to safety, He has suffered slight injuries to his shoulders, knees and limbs.

Yes, yes, yes; what is the lucky number derived from this? I'm counting 23 wires.

Be careful.... some of the lines that look like wires, are actually shadows.

Can't see the bike tags. Wifey wants to buy the lottery, today.

Also the first thing mine asked about when I showed her why she had been caught in traffic yesterday.

I find no humour in the pain, misery or misadventure of others.

Good luck comes from bad luck? (sigh).

No.... good luck rubs off of others experiencing good luck, much as one sees in a casino, where folk can bet behind another players hand

so... bike rider had very good luck.... bike tag number equates to lucky numbers. ????

You call getting injured by falling power lines good luck?

Don't bother saying "he was lucky because he wasn't killed".

Surely, the motorist in front of him was even luckier.

Great point.... Even better plate numbers to use then.... maybe expats with thai wife’s should try making that point, as it’s them chasing lucky numbers.

oh.... he was lucky he wasn’t killed ????.... and I’ll be willing to bet that the non dead expat agrees

That's funny. Laughing at the misfortune of others is one of my greatest pleasures.

I take it that this is sarcasm, seeing as how you can’t see the funny side of chasing lucky numbers.

Funny? No, not particularly. Though people with a simpler sense of humour might.

Stupid superstition? Yes.
