Chiang Mai News said that police suspect a foreign tourist is responsible for a Valentine's Day message spray painted on the side wall of a historic downtown temple.

The message "(heart) u Sandy Happy Valentines Day" was painted on the wall of a side soi next to Wat Chetawan.

The site is not far from the Tha Pae gate where a spray painted message got a Liverpool man and a Canadian woman in so much trouble a few months back.

Police suspect a foreigner though no reason was given for this assertion. No spray paint cans were found in the area.

Many people park there but there is no CCTV system at the temple.

A foreigner walking around with 3 colors of spray paint?

Maybe he found them on the ground like the Liverpool guy.

Boy, Sandy is a lucky girl to have a beau willing to do something as trashy as graffiti on a wall to show his love.

At least it will be in the news all over Thailand.

Waiting for the "500 000 Baht fine, 12 months jail and deport for life" brigade to turn up:tongue:

I have a better idea. In the Second World War, a dietitian was commissioned by the British Government to define a diet which would sustain life during the U-boat blockade.

Her answer was wholemeal bread, unpeeled potato and cabbage. Nothing to make it more savoury.

Put a graffitist on that diet until they have scrubbed off their handiwork. IMHO they will work fast to get off the same food day in, day out.

I blame it on "Sandy", it's the women who make men do stupid things.

Chiang Mai must be a serious crime free city, if the cops have nothing else to do.

The rest of the crimes have been bought and paid for.

Refering back in history.

Select a group that do not "belong" to the majority, even though many have lived in that country for years.

Publicize them as being criminal and a danger to the country, using the media as a tool for nationalistic propaganda. If an incident doesn't exist, invent one!

Parade them in front of the cameras, with the appropriate saviors resplendent in costume, pointing out that salvation is only possible by locking arms against a common foe.

Deflect the real problems facing the country with circuses, bread and other handouts. This scenario is not new. Read up on history.

ALWAYS foreigners...never Thai,s.........

"Police suspect a foreigner though no reason was given for this assertion." ????

I am constantly dumbfounded by the powers of deduction of the RTP and others in this country:-

"The message "(heart) u Sandy Happy Valentines Day"

Is the language used and the popular American name not some kind of giveaway?

Or do they suspect that it was in reality a Thai trying to bring farangs into disrepute?
