The chief of the infamous "Rot Daeng" or public red song thaews of Chiang Mai said he had a chat with a driver after he wielded a sword out of his window at a driver who he claimed had sounded his horn.

But he has done nothing else.

CCTV on Maneenopparat Road showed the incident as the red song thaew tailgated a white car.

The driver had earlier posted about the incident last Monday. He said that the song thaew had cut in front of him and he had sounded his horn. He was then chased around the moat.

The post mysteriously was later deleted.

Bunniam Buntha - chief of the song thaew association - said he had had a chat with the driver who admitted that he was cross and waved the long knife out the window.

He said he could be spoken to again with a view to possible punishment.

No police action was reported in the Sanook story.

Thaivisa notes - somewhat facetiously - that in some countries drivers of public vehicles who wave swords to threaten other road users may face serious trouble.

This is exactly what is wrong in Thai society, Thais have no respect for the law or anyone else and they know the police won't move themselves unless they really need to.

ok, so you can google, good. now go one step further, and try to find how many of these concerns road rage incidents.

What difference would that make?  This was a reply to someone complaining about Thai society.  The reply indicated that all societies have social issues. I could have as easily cited road rage incidents in the United States were nearly 400 people per year are killed by gun fire in road rage shootings.

have an incentive (like money) rather than public safety; serving and protecting.
