Fist-fight challenge in parliament between Pheu Thai MP and senator

Senator Kittisak Rattanawaraha, who challenged Pheu Thai MP Yutthapong Charassathien in parliament to a fist-fight today (Friday), has admitted that he lost his cool because of Yutthapong’s non-stop bad-mouthing of other MPs.

He said that he was not a priest and could not stand the Pheu Thai MP, so he snapped back and then walked toward him to challenge him to a fight. Yutthapong made a hand gesture signaling that he would not accept the challenge.

The bickering between Mr. Kittisak and Mr. Yutthapong stems from Pheu Thai’s criticism of the government’s policy on the suppression of corruption, during which he cited several cases of alleged graft such as the Interior Ministry’s plan to seek a 7.7 billion baht loan to purchase fire-fighting trucks and the Laem Chabang deep-sea port phase 3 project.

As a wholly appointed entity the Senate really needs to be reined in and used very sparingly indeed, if at all.

ORDER....Order......!

The stuffy Thai parliament needs a character like John Bercow, speaker of the House of Commons U.K., to inject some wit and humour into the proceedings. Oops, is that possible in the ........ship of state in this country?

If you left out the word "Thai" in your first sentence it would also be true!

Just think Kittisak is supposed to be there doing a job to help the people, and he is behaving like a street thug.

What kind of example is he setting?

I would have seen Yutthapong take him up on the offer and head to the doors and said after you the shut and lock the doors behind him.

Turkey though has one of the most prolific parliament venues for punch ups.

Sadly this is mostly people that have been voted in by the rest of the population. They are supposed to be competent for their work.

Is this really the message Thailand want to put in the news? Talk about negative for the image of Thailand!

I hope they meet one day in the canteen at break time... or is it 5 star hotel?

Shit happens in NON-ELECTED governments..

I like the Taiwanese parliament for a good bit of biffo. Irrespective many "young" democracies can be volatile.

Well as you mention democracies that would exclude Thailand currently

I'd vote the the laughing chubby man in the background, he's seems like the type to lead with sanuk.

I wonder why Chuan Lekpai didn't ejected the JUNTA appointed senator and blocked him from the house for a couple of weeks.

Just as well or " Uncle Lester " taunts could have been flung around also and then it might have kicked off proper ..

No, none of the army-appointed 250 member Thai senate were elected. It was the 'elected' MP that waived his hand dismissively at this agitated old patrician.

I prefer to think it bodes well for Thailand and the future. All these years of simply rubber-stamping the edicts of the con artist formerly known as General. Now it is time for robust debate and criticism. Already the self-appointed one had to 'leave the kitchen' when an MP mentioned that Prayuth had boasted to him about planning a coup fully 3 years before he did it. Called it treasonous in parliament and you couldn't even think that in the bad old days or Article 44.

They’d beat the crap out of him before his second sentence
