How low can they go?

They can go as low as having to head to the airport to go home.

Isn't closing what they all deserve ?

They never improved any business even before covid, buying ingredients as cheap as possible to sell them as expensive as possible !

And with covid they not only give small portions for take away food for the same price as dine in, but they also mostly use plastic and foam.

For all this they should be punished and closure is the least punishment !

Many of the business owners have become slaves to their Thai landlords.

The rents are so high that it effects their product, and their service.

The Thai landlords here have continually been pushing the market towards breaking point, and in high season 2020, I think we saw they pushed the market past what it was prepared to pay.

We saw this after the tsunami in Phuket.  Tourists stayed away because they didn't want to feel like they were taking advantage of the situation.  The locals begged the tourists to come back.  As soon as they did, they started ripping them off, over charging, extorting, padding their bills, assaulting them etc.

I don't expect it to be any different after covid.

I don't know who is the owner of Whiterspoons

but obviously he has a lot of money to burn

i walk everyday in front of the place on beach road

open since 9 months now if i am not mistaken

and it's almost always empty or with only very few rare customers

All bars are currently  closed though some restaurants might open soon but not serve booze..The question the thread addresses is kinda redundant and has been for months..I wish the Mods would  put it out  of its misery

You can't go out for a beer anywhere? Wow. My choice to wait until later this year to return seems like a good choice.

How do I get my name on it?

Sure. How about  replacing it with something exciting like " I bought a really black black pudding yesterday" ?

Great ! I guess that many people are dreaming to eat in a crowded restaurant with covid customers ❤️

so funny for me that it's so important for people to dine at restaurants.

Take the Pattaya taxi drivers for example, they will just go back to their old ways.

There are hundreds of thousands of people wishing to return to Pattaya.  When I started this thread, way before covid, businesses were closing due to lack of customers.  Covid came along and businesses were closing, not just temporarily due to government decree, but permanently due to going broke, or not seeing it as viable to remain operating in such circumstances.

When tourists do come back here, for many, their favourite bar and / or restaurant will not be here, possibly their favourite hotel and / or guest house as well.

This thread is more relevant now than it was pre covid.

Im amazed at the amount of new places that have opened where I live, Rawai in Phuket.

The existing ones are struggling and along pops up another one

It's been here for nearly 2 years and you've only just read it.?

That's immaterial. The guy said if you don't like the thread then don't read it., which can apply to any post on any forum. Hence my question.
