Seasonal flu kills 400,000 globally every year!!

I think some people need to get things into perspective.

Season flu kills 1 in 1000... this is killing between 20 - 30 in 1000 at a minimum and Lancet data suggests over 100 in 1000...

Do the math..

I always find this line of logic (if it can be called that) to be completely irrelevant.

The road deaths go on regardless. Coronavirus deaths are in addition.

I disagree. If someone is assessing risk before coming to Thailand, one of the world's worst road death rates is a hugely more significant factor than the coronavirus.

The fact that the road injury/death rate is , as it were built in, is neither here nor there.

The correct answer to that question must be taken in the general context.

If unsanitary food doesn't get you the highways will. If you survive breathing the air and drinking the water then it might be time to worry about coronavirus.

This is scary! When are they going to start recalling the infected bottles of Corona and stop this thing? It’s insane. I know it’s bad for business but people are dying.

Hello from Krabi Town! I am pretty worried and it's a little alarming that all hand santiziers and face masks have sold out in the city!

Anyway, are there destinations in Thailand where Chinese don't tend to go? Obviously Phuket, Bangkok and CM are super popular. Have not see too many of them in Krabi thankfully!

I’m think massive class action lawsuit against the Corona beer company.

The Spanish flu epidemic of 1918-20 infected an estimated 500 million people and killed 20-50 million. Now that was a virus to be worried about.

If you would know that you are the one to be killed you will think it over I guess...

When is the government going to stop being indecisive.  Time to follow the international community and ban all flights from China.  They always wait until things are out of control before they act.

I've been saying this all along.

The government will only act when it's too late.

I'll be traveling to Thailand on the 8th of February. I'm looking forward to a wonderful holiday with my wife. and I'm a senior citizen also. Not worried about virus in the least

That's not unreasonable, the numbers in Thailand are not very bad yet.

I would just recommend to avoid touching your face after touching door handles, hand rails and fingerprint scanners. Maybe have some alcohol gel if you don't feel like waiting for the next bathroom to wash your hands.

I got in a heated debate about Air BnB a month a go ... Oh, how "selfish" I was for not wanting strangers from every corner of the world, fresh off an international flight ... here in our lovely building on short stays.  Everyone criticized me. Our building is cracking down on Air BnB in a serious way ... show of hands please ... who wants these people in their building because "mean Bangkok Equity enforced the condo rules?" and they are GONE.  I will pay their taxi fare to send these travelers straight to YOUR building!  Please let me know where to send them ... because, you know ... you thought Air BnB was brilliant last month!  By the way, guess what now also makes sense?? ... TM30.  A record of travelers, where they go, and where they stay.  Things that make ya' go "hmmmm"

For all the TV Doctors, specialists and other BS let me tel you something:

It always strikes me down if death numbers are compared with the annually flu victims. OK. for all of this guys seeing this numbers as not an issue means you think if a A 380 crashes and 530 people are minced is not problem as the flu kills every year ????????? ????

In this moment it is completely irrelevant how much is the death rate. Why? Because there is a risk that now many people going to hospitals. This is the place where you absolutely don't want to be in this moment. If later more people getting sick hospitals will not be able to provide IC as they run out of equipment.

Happening right now in Wuhan. Therefor it is now essential to stay healthy in either way. Any contribution to minimize the risk must be done.

If you get infected it will surely be from a Thai.

BA has stopped all flights to China and the Philippines has stopped all visas on arrival from China whilst Thailand sprays the planes in preparation for new arrivals.

do the road deaths double every 2 days ??

This is why comparing fat tail outcomes to thin tail outcomes is statistically meaningless in risk assessment models.

Bare in mind this prediction was done on 22 for the next 30 day at then  present data if nothing was to change. So far the numbers have mostly mirrored  the prediction frighteningly closely  .. I really hope it begins to diverge to the low side within the next few days.

You're going solo on the sex side?

This particular virus -- unlike others -- supposedly cannot be spread thru sexual body fluids alone... although heavy breathing and kissing is probably best avoided!

Although somewhat ironically, the drugs the medicos are looking at right now as prospective treatments for the coronavirus are anti-viral HIV drugs...

some people would panic if a mouse farts. Corona is just influenza with a college education.

I always understood mice don't fart. Same for dogs.

But I get your point.

All I can say is that, if for Thailand it is too late and that this has spread out of control already, I'm glad I'm not in Pattaya.

You don't seem to know that BKK is the most popular place for Chinese tourists, and maybe Chiang-Mai is number two because of the Chinese population there. I am staying in Jomtien and some days I don't see any Chinese tourists, even when going into Pattaya. The Chinese New Year isn't very big in Pattaya and the celebrations are not the same as in other places in Thailand.

170 deaths

7000 reported cases

Thailand is second in the world for cases.

Advice is all but essential travel to be avoided.

11:30 am Thursday.

I cannot believe anything that the Thai government puts out.

Its aimed at protecting the tourist $$$

So where do you see the "massive amount of Chinese tourists in Pattaya" according to you?

You are the type of person who reads about 132 dead in China and because of that you don't leave your condo because you're scared <deleted>less.

I don't live in a condo. I go into Pattaya most days. Was in Jomtien yesterday. Chinese horde had invaded Immigration big time.
