70-80 Thai workers returning from South Korea 'have fled quarantine'

Deputy Health Minister Satit Pitutecha said on Saturday (Mar 7) that all Thais returning from South Korea from Sunday (8 March) will be transferred to the Sattahip Army Base in Chonburi province, to screen for Covid-19 symptoms. Those having fever will be sent to a hospital.

The measures also apply to foreigners, who could be shifted to a hotel if they are in good health.

The returning Thai labourers will be in quarantine at Sattahip Army house.

Satit admitted that 200 Thai labourers had arrived. Some of them were resisting the screening measure from the health officers and some 70-80 had fled.

The Department of Disease Control has checked their travel history in order to bring them back to quarantine and punish them under the Disease Control Act.

A lot of Thai's don't do responsibility hence the war-zone road death toll so it would come as no surprise that some returning to Thailand have done a runner .. These actions will help propagates CV19 .. Non compliance in the process needed to try and keep this in check is the signature of the selfish and irresponsible ..

oh, and those without fever...coming from a pandemic hotspot where the unreliable tests often show false negatives, and where the hosts become infectious before showing symptoms.........will be released into the general population(*).

just in time for water wars.

ah, well, no worries.  100% under control.

(*) unless those without symptoms will be kept in quarantine for 14 days.  maybe i misread?

Well folks if voluntary quarantine is not working you don't need to be Einstein to see what comes next......Mandatory involuntary quarantine.......And not just for the Thais, for everybody from the high risk countries....

So, only believe the Thai health minister when he has bad news, not when good news is reported?

It'll never happen here. They may pass a law, but it will be unenforceable. Like herding cats.

AFAIK, the police who caught up with the Korea returning woman in CM who ignored the self quarantine and then went out on the town, posting photos to her social media, wasn't fined at all when they finally caught up with her. Instead, the report said, she apologized for her "ignorance" and promised to do better.  They really know how to bring down the hammer on law breakers here... :cheesy:

You almost couldn't make it up could you, about to be quarantined then they simply walk away.

Nice to see everyone involved is doing a half assed job, I assume this applies to everyone related to this incident.

I see a lot of Mortality  Rate statistics reported and cited.

It is important to know, that no one really knows what the mortality rates are and will not know until the dust has settled .

All deaths are investigated as to "cause of death" but not all illnesses are investigated.

So it is fair to assume that a lot of mild cases do not even require treatment so are not reported and counted, and that do to a shortage in test kits and political reasons , a lot of more severe cases are not tested, ( test kit availability varies for country to country) .

I am willing to bet that when the dust settles the mortality rate will be somewhere between 1-1.5%  remove from that the elderly with underlying  medical conditions, and the mortality rate decreases considerably.

So, Not time to panic yet.

YINN, do you really believe your own goverment?

You can't be that naive, sorry. Please read statistics made by other countries and see if that fits.

You call the one post a Thai bashing post, but at the same time post a many countries bashing photo and text?

Where did  you see that infected people fled from a particular place in one of these countries?

  Perhaps, I've missed it.

Please elaborate.

How many people you know die from coronavirus or pneumonia in thailand last two month?

Nobody right?

There have been SO MANY announcements and versions of the quarantine issue for Thais and/or foreigners arriving from high-risk countries in the past week+, that at this point, I have ZERO idea what they actually think they're doing.

And that's before you even get to the also ever-present question here of -- do they actually end up doing what they promised to do in the first place...

As usual here, there is a general lack of responsibility in all classes of Thailand. The driving, the motorbikes without helmets, the lax health and safety standards etc etc etc.

Incredible that you then get ministers like Anutin kicking off about foreign tourists here when a large percent of Thai people don't follow any rules at all. The only rule people do seem to 'follow' should have been abolished generations ago.

  • Popular Post

Call it what you like, I call it a rational fear of the Thai authority corrupt and inefficient.

The Thai medical personnel may be ok, but the mechanism that brings people to quarantine stations?

ps. The coronavirus very danger for the elderly. Be careful my good friend.

Correct, you know nobody yourself, then stop spouting it...........????
