In Bangkok, foreign entrepreneurs, including the owner of Dinner in the Sky Thailand, recently donated food and essential supplies to Klong Toey slum community, one of the largest shanty towns in Thailand.

I refrain from getting involved in anything of that kind as, for all the years I have spent here, Thailand has made it loud and clear that I am not "one of them". So, my "generosity" will be limited to a close circle and my home countries.

I will do it when the Monks and the Government do it. Letting these two sets of social parasites off the hook helps nobody in the long run. I will stick to helping me and mine, starving soi dogs and anyone in isolation and need who I happen to come across.

@Boomer6969 @Pilotman It does make some sense for these foreign owned companies, whose business in some cases benefits from local patrons, to give back to their community. It also has some benefit in terms of promotion. Myself, I support those closest to me, as I do not have the resources for community support.

No human being regardless of ethnicity deserves the suffering now experienced by the Thai people here, nor is any decent human being more deserving of compassion than any other regardless of race. You really ought to be ashamed of yourself posting such petty comments here in the midst of an unprecedented global catastrophe. Maybe there's a good reason why Thai people don't like you. I don't like you already. I think in every circumstance where you would describe Thais treating you as "not one of them" you gave Thai people a reason not to like you with your prejudices, superior attitude, and whatever else you directed at them. I don't think you know the meaning of the word generosity. Nor compassion. Not when you tie the value of those words to whether or not people roll out the red carpet and throw rose petals at your feet. Not when you use a story of compassion demonstrated by people not steeped in ethnic prejudice as a soapbox from which to preach your self centered pettiness. Are you related to Donald Trump? I've been here 7 years and have always felt welcomed. Since you feel so rejected by the Thai people, either leave and don't come back, or just don't come back. That would do all of us a favor, Thais and farang alike. You're a Brit, right? How did I know.
