Disease control measures at a popular Phetchaburi beach that has just reopened have been tightened after visitors ignored rules meant to curb the spread of Covid-19.

Two additional checkpoints have been set up at Chao Samran beach, to enforce bans on gathering, drinking alcohol, and activities in the sea.

The beach lies just 150 kilometres south of Bangkok and is a popular weekend getaway.

Local officials manning one checkpoint are measuring the body temperature of visitors, while ensuring they are wearing face masks and also checking in and out of the beach via the ThaiChana platform. Visitors found with a temperature of more than 37.5 degrees Celsius will be barred entry to the beach.

"However, some tourists are still violating the rules," said local officials. "So, we have set up two additional checkpoints and are collaborating with Haad Chao Samran Police Station to arrest violators."

Meanwhile, Boonyod Maklai, mayor of Haad Chao Samran subdistrict, said that visitors at the beach would be closely monitored.

"We instructed our officials to make sure tourists are aware of the rules, which have been set by the Public Health Ministry and provincial authorities," he said.

The officials in Prachuap must be really tough headed. Such a waste of energy.

The measures are employing people........ don't forget that, irrespective of your personal opinions.

Two "check points"....

Is there something in police contracts that make them physically restrained from getting off their lazy backsides and actually patrol the beaches?

Clampdown... poor or nonexistent planning? "Uh, captain what should we do if people don't observe the rules all up and down the beach?" (this questions wouldn't be asked as questioning superiors is culturally not allowed, but humor me)

"We will send more officers to the checkpoints!!!"

Thailand's health minister ignores social distancing so why not the plebs.

https://sawadeesiam.com/coronavirus-covid-19/thai-health-minister-ignores-social-distancing-as-he-dines-with-10-friends/

one of the top men in the UK and advising balll*ss Borris does not follow any rules,

and the other week drove 60 miles to test his eyesight and then tested how thick the

people of the UK are the next week by repeating  this childlike excuse, a bit of non social

distancing is nothing ...did this health minister say it was all mirrors or he was testing the

other peoples responses ? obviously would be out of his depth in the UK.

Disease is in the water after rain, when the waves break it creates an aerosol known as 'sea spray'.

"It's amazing all the ways that viruses spread - crafty little devils.
All this new knowledge about the spread of viruses that we never knew until that rascally Covid showed up.  Lordy Lordy we should have been wrapping ourselves in plastic and wearing masks and never leaving our caves since the inception of man.  How did we survive?  Well, the government is gonna make sure you all survive even if it kills you.
Get those masks on, social distance!!!  Don't make us send the police in to beat you or drop a knee on your neck.
When we say the beaches are dangerous - don't question.  Obey!!!  Covid breeds in beach sand and is aerosolized by ocean waves, sea breezed, and probably in rain too.  Best not to leave your homes.  Stay tuned.  We'll come up with more experts to put on your screens to tell you more about this highly contagious killer virus.  If you get Covid - You die!!!  So stop breathing!
Be afraid, be very afraid.

Signed,
Your Leaders (while enjoying a nice seaside lunch)
"Rules are for thee and not for we <your betters>."

Are you not allowed to swim or have fun in the sea now. What is happening to Thailand and these crazy rules, QR code to enter the beach which is open air!

This is getting insane guys!

Ahhh, but here's the rub.  This all sounds like some Orwellian fiction set in some hyper-authoratarian dystopian future.  And yet - it's now your reality.   Fancy that?  How'd that happen?
