Comment on Thai social media was rife after a picture showed a car parked right across two bays at a Korat store.

Chayutta Jiranuwat said on Facebook that she saw red after seeing the green light that indicated there were spare parking places on that floor.

She had to keep driving round to find one.

She posed the question: "Who taught them to park like that?".

Daily News' caption said: Does this actually happen?

It appears it does.

In response to the post someone posted a picture of the same car parked in a similar fashion elsewhere.

Who taught them to park like that? Answer nobody, even taught them how to drive.

  • Nothing about Thai parking, driving or lack of indication astounds me after 10 years here.

  • An easy solution to stop the driver from doing it again would be to clamp a wheel and they would have to pay a fine to have it removed .

Or impound the car for 7 days, with no advice or discussion with the owner, and owner has to pay storage fees to recover the car.

You know, sometimes if you don’t laugh, you could end up in a padded room!

not at all unusual, but my beef is waiting 15 minutes for a Thai to park a small Nissan in a space built for a Sherman Tank.  It's inevitably a woman.  Sorry to all you of a sensitive turn of mind, but its true.

Is  that  all the "soshulmeeedia" plebs  have to worry  about, why not  look more at your own appalling driving skills, start  simple ,see if you can keep  all 4  wheels  on the right side of the white  line (when visible)  especially at corners.

Yeah that parkings  really going to injure someone, what they might get a blister  having to walk  2  metres farther to the  store entry.

I'm not excusing this but some of the mult-storey car parks are a night-mare to navigate.  I used the one at Manchester airport and it  indicated there were 14 places available. I drove around for 20 minutes trying to find one I could get my medium size van into before having to PAY before leaving without parking.

I know we 'knock' the Thais with their driving , but one aspect I've noticed here is that a large percentage of them reverse park which is far safer than the majority of people in the UK that have little concept ( or skills) of this.

Pay a fine, or demand of the person collecting the money, "Do you know who I am?"

Of course the witty repost would be the staff member to get on the tannoy announcing, "Can someone come to floor 5. We have a customer here with memory loss. They don't know who they are."

It's well known that Thai drivers don't park. They simply stop driving.

This car is probably owned and driven by some cranky, uppity, retired, knowitall farang anyway.

MAN airport? Awful place. The rental car courtesy bus (not free) dropped me and my 3 large suitcases off at their only permitted bus stop some 200 m from the entrance to the terminal. Not a baggage cart anywhere in sight.

...a bit like their Arrivals hall at 9 P.M. about two weeks earlier actually.

Being an R sole when it comes to parking badly is not unique to Thais. UTube has many videos of poor parking with hilarious results.

Often due to the driver confusing the R sole for the clutch and the L sole for the brake.

Unlike Thais who have lived here all their lives, after 13 years living here nothing that occurs on the roads of Thailand "astounds" me.  In fact, I was pretty well inured to parking like that within the first year.  But Thais are still "astounded."  Guess those folks don't get out of the house much.  Stupidity like that are daily, multi-occurrence normalcy on the roads of Thailand.

In the UK, wimmin locally drive fat 4x4

barges in fast forward only, outside the

local WI hall there's a bloke to park for

them, the only time reverse gear is used.

Although many years ago I did notice a

a woman and a yellow Etype coming round

a bend sideways towards me. That took

a bit of doing.

She really wanted to make an impression on you broadside.

Nothing strange with that. (Maybe I´ve been here too long time)

And these 'Drivers' are among you every day on the road....take care out there !

BKK's MSCPs are truly a nightmare, small dingy and the signs to go up and down are useless.

Looks to me like they're trying to drop a hint that angled parking is much easier & quicker.  Drive in, reverse out.  Easy peasy.

Well at least they can open their doors and boot without marking another car parked too close. Easy entry for them when they come back

Reminds me of back in the US some cars parked like that so no door scratches from adjacent cars.????

Female driver for sure.

When I'm drunk my wife is always driving. And when do most accidents happen? Yes when I'm drunk.

If this is how they park, imagine how they drive.  ????

I do hope they stay in Korat

Looking on the bright side they wont chip the paint when the doors are opened :whistling:

Must be a generation thing then as I always used to reverse park in the UK and so did most of the people I knew.

To all you Thai blamers.   I have travelled around the world and I have seen this in many countries.
