BANGKOK, May 20 (TNA) -- Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai said the government could contain the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) but the Travel Bubble idea would progress on a stage-by-stage basis.

Mr Don was responding to an interpellation of Senator Jate Sirataranont on the return of Thai people stranded in other countries and the government’s decision to delay the arrival of foreign visitors.

The minister said that about 8,200 Thai people already registered for their return by the end of this month and were waiting for their flights.

Travel bubbles mean that Chinese, Japanese, Korean Tour Groups come into Thailand for 3,4 or 5days. It is the wrong approach. If some of these people bring the virus with them, they can not be tracked

Travel bubbles mean that Chinese, Japanese, Korean Tour Groups come into Thailand for 3,4 or 5days. It is the wrong approach. If some of these people bring the virus with them, they can not be tracked, because they have already left, when it is found out.

It would be more wise, to let those foreigners first in, who want to stay for several months. They can be put on a 14day quarantine in their hotels, condos, houses, tested after 12,13 days and when negative are not a risk to Thailand.

so you mean tested with those chinese tests with a 30% wrong positive result?

Maybe ppl need to overcome their paranoia first

You are right, the fear and paranoia are the worst. People have to understand, that we live with diseases every day. There are new cases of dengue, malaria, tuberculosis etc. in Thailand every day. There are much more people dying of tuberculosis and dengue in Thailand than of Covid19. But people got used to this. Same with the horrendous numbers of people dying every year in traffic accidents in Thailand. People are used to the TV pics.

And by the way, tests are produced in Europe and the US, too, and they are fairly exact, wrong positive and wrong negative tests are far below 5%.

And how many will do this ?

The country needs nbrs and full planes, with people who stay a week or two. Not single individuals here and there

No way. Those non Asian tourists want to mingle with other tourists and sit in bars all day i.e. high risk. Most of them are self important and feel they have the right not to wear the masks. Asians from other countries are considerate enough to wear the mask without any BS. A significant percentage of the non Asian tourists are sex tourists and will spread the virus faster than any other group of people.

Keep non Asians out for as long as possible, until this pandemic is resolved.

Covid19 was clearly brought by Asians/Chinese from Wuhan into Thailand and into the world.

Before Covid19 broke out, the sex tourists from Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Hongkong and China had taken over the nighttime venues in Bangkok, Phuket and Pattaya.

Please ask your fellow Thai owners of gogobars and hotels. 90% of the money the bars made with Asian customers. Some bars in Bangkok allowed only Asians entry to their premises (Soi Cowboy).

The long term stayers, either from Asia or Western countries, have mostly long term girlfriends, supporting their families. They don't need to engage in a 3,4 or 5day party and sex action.

That is a huge difference.

Short term tourists, Asians or Westerners, are mostly party tourists, hanging out all night in bars and clubs and drinking.

Long Term Stayers, Asians or Westerners, are rarely found in nighttime venues, as they mostly live a normal live, going to bed quite early and rise quite early.

Take a consideration please.

Reality hurts- the world pandemic isn’t over and as soon as “outsiders” (tourists of any nationality) are allowed to visit Thailand the virus will spread and paranoia will kick in against “farangs” and people living in the “hot virus” cities.

Best to wait a year. Some Thai billionaires can surely donate a few million to help the needy.

Often forgotten in these discussions is the fact that dengue, malaria, t.b. and car wrecks donot follow you home and infect your wife, kids, mom and dad and one or two of them may die.

The travel bubble is a dead duck.

Ever notice that the same Thai officials that tell everyone to wear masks, especially dirty Farangs, never wear a mask?

That's because they're clean Thais.

Oxford University developed a new vaccination method for training peoples' immune system to produce more T-cells.

If that works, it should be made mandatory for travelers to Thailand where no locally transmitted CoviD-19 case has occurred for 2 months now.

T. B. is contagious.

Car wrecks... Your wife, kids, mom and dad may be in the car that a crazy drunk driving maniac hits.

Correct.

And that means the label "sex tourist" becomes quite meaningless for long-term stayers with a steady girlfriend.

In fact, there's many single mums working in bars. And for many it's a dream to get a steady Farang boyfriend that also cares for their children. Xenophobia ruins those dreams.

Are you saying that Forigners who come in and have homes, condos or rentals can stay at their homes?  I thought you had to stay at a Government Approved facility only.

Precisely !  This piece of opinion should be brought to the attention of the decision makers.

Perhaps, Japanese and Korean tour groups are just a smokescreen for the real McCoy - China.  Whatever new words they come up with, the intention is to justify the re-introduction into Thailand the people of that country responsible for the virus.
