I strongly recommend our builder

Featured Replies

Three or four years ago I asked here for recommendations for a builder to build a house. One kind and enthusiastic response led me to a guy who has since built two houses for us, and we are seriously impressed by his work.  If anyone wants to build a house, we strongly recommend him. Scrupulously honest, extremely reliable, and follows the demands of even the most difficult customers (like us) to the letter. He also speaks excellent English. (Both house projects were ambitious, over 400 square metres each, but he has plenty experience of building smaller homes.)

This is not a business proposal or advertising of any sort. I'm simply offering to pass on the name of a fine contractor who, in these difficult economic days, has a bit too much time on his hands. I am involved with the builder only as a satisfied customer, so other than helping him out, there is nothing in this for me

Answer here or send me a message for photos or other details.

Sure. Post the information and photos. Many of us will benefit.

Thanks for the reassurances that I won't fall foul of the rules by posting this. The builder's name and number:

K. Song   <phone number removed as per my earlier post, spambots are smarter than you think please PM for contact details>    (my weird spacing in an attempt to make it less obvious to SPAM BOTS.)

He uses Line, but so far as I know, doesn't use email much.

Anyone who calls can say they got his name from Ron at Floraville. Within reason, he's also welcome to show the newer house (the one with the Thai-style rooflines) to interested parties.

Here are photos of the houses he built for us.

That was really helpful.

The first house was completed nearly three years ago and is still in excellent condition, requiring no significant work of any kind. The quality of the work he does is very good and the second house, 400 square metres with pool, is available for viewing if anyone is serious about checking out K. Song's work.

What did they cost?

Give K. Song a call and he'll give you an idea of what he charges for different projects.

looks far better than the usual rubbish they throw up

@properjob No problem posting photos and name.

You should give contact info. by PM to avoid spambots harvesting his details.

Thanks for that. I didn't spot that you were talking as a moderator. Doh.

After (eventually) taking advice from Moderator Crossy, It appears that anyone interested in contacting Song should send me a PM for his phone number in order to stop SPAM Bots bombarding  his phone with messages.

what area he works in? and do the subbies live in?

He's Chiang Mai-based, but not restricted to one area. I've known him to do jobs in Hang Dong, Doi Saket and Samoeng.

His workers usually live off-site.

Thanks to the thread my friend Song has already received a couple of enquiries. Anyone else who wants to get in touch just has to send me a message and I'll pass on his phone number.

Look like your brother-in-law did a great job. And yes we are impressed with your obvious wealth.

Looks like a normal house but with some nice decorations stuck on.

Sorry if they didn't build 'your dream house' for the photos, as you weren't available to consult when they drew up the plans. But hopefully it was built according to the owner's building plans as printed.

The important thing is that the builder / general contractor builds according to plan, using adequate materials, with a crew who know what they're doing and actually completes the task within a timeline.

The work looks good, yes probably expensive builds...brother in law...? ha ha, well maybe but so what if the work is good...hard to find good tradesmen here so all recommendations should be welcome.

It's a pity we can't name and shame the many fly by night cowboys that masquerade as tradesmen.

I suppose it was inevitable that one or two fearless anonymous armchair warriors would pop up to try and turn this into something that it was never intended to be.

As stated before, the builder was completely unknown to us until a few years ago when someone on this forum recommended him, so the 'brother-in-law' jibe not only accuses me of lying, it's patently untrue. If you can't even imagine someone actually respecting and appreciating and helping out a local tradesman who does great work, then maybe the problem is with you.

This is one thing that ThaiVisa should be used for ,giving recommendations

for tradesmen who have done a good job,as we cannot name the cowboys

for fear of been sued.

Maybe this is not done as much, you are helping others, but some smart@rse

has to criticize the poster.which is very unhelpful.

Thanks Sir for giving out the information, please send me PM of the builders

contacts.

I wish I had a recommendation like this last year !!!!

We kicked our builder out after doing too mush dumb sh!yte ! getting a simple job wrong just too many times.

The issue with pretty much all the work I’ve need to have done on houses in Thailand (interior and exterior) is that they require an exhausting amount of supervision and I’m not here all the time to supervise.

Solid and reliable recommendations are key.

Unfortunately, its common that the ‘good builders’ are busy.

This is a good thread - recommendations for building.

With time I hope to see recommendations for interior work / Windows / Roofing / extensions / pools etc

Perhaps we need a ‘recommendations’  folder in the ‘Real Estate Forum’ and not just the DIY category.

You are correct--always someone to poke at a helpful piece of information.  The houses look quite nice and it appears include a great deal of precision work, which is often difficult to have done here without problem.  Additionally, the owner shared that the build was three years ago, so plenty of time for any obvious faults to crop up.  Finding reliable contractors is a major problem so to have someone available, to at least discuss plans, is a major plus.

You're right. Good work can be hard to find, which apart from pointing people to a builder I like and respect, was the only reason I started the thread, despite what the armchair smart guys think.

You ever see that  movie; “ Grumpy Old Men”?

Hi pj (Ron),

What are the details for the K. Song builder?

I also recommend Khun Song. I have been using his building services for more than 15 years. Pete Pad Thai: I have sent a PM to you with his phone number

Thanks for starting this thread, useful to get recommendations - I'm close to a build so would appreciate his line details too. Could you please DM ?
