Buri Ram police turn blind eye to repeated rape of mentally challenged teenager

A family in Buri Ram province is calling for help after little has been done to punish the rapist of a 14-year-old girl, who is now seven months pregnant.

 

The girl, who reportedly suffers from mental damage, has been living with her uncle and aunt after her parents separated.

 

Her guardians told reporters on Wednesday (August 26) their niece had been raped by a 65-year-old neighbour called Chai and that they only realised this when her pregnancy started showing five months later.

 

The uncle and aunt said they filed a police report two months ago, but nothing has been done since.

 

Upon visiting Chai’s home nearby, his wife told reporters that the allegation was true as he had confessed to raping the girl because she usually came over to ask for food.

 

Meanwhile, Chai said he had raped the girl several times as a punishment for stealing his money, adding that he will take responsibility by adopting the child.

 

However, the girl’s uncle and aunt have refused the offer and want legal action to be taken against the man.

Obviously he thinks that will make everything right for raping a minor?

This makes my blood boil - this shows all that's wrong with the pathetic so called Police and in this case, the Police need to be jailed along side the rapist

 

So sad for the young girl. As if she and her uncle and aunt did not have enough to contend with.

Sadly the aunt/ uncle can expect no help what so ever from the police.

No photo ops, no money to be made out of a case like this, so they sit back, do nothing.

Did the reporters ask, challenge, the police on why no action had been taken? Just joking ????

How about charging the police in charge of this case, at all levels, with dereliction of duty?

Disgusting attitude from the police , what do they actually do because I see kids riding past police everyday without helmets or licenses , I see roads and public pavements blocked by venders, I see people to drunk to stand but drive vehicles , the list goes on and on and on

What Court could sanction a rapist adopting the child he has raped! He should be castrated and imprisoned. 

 

Oh I forgot TIT no money to oil any wheels to motivate BIB to take any action.

Until one of their own got raped 

The country is not sick and perverted just because of one incident. If there is a record of a Police complaint, then there should definitely be an inquiry into the Police handling of the matter. 

 

the alleged rapist his reported to have confessed, in a public arena, without lawyers present, thus, the Police must act and arrest him immediately now.

It is not actually clear from the article, when he talks of adopting the child, does he mean the 14 year old girl or her unborn child.

This Young Lass, should be among the most protected Children in the Country due to her Mental Condition.

Instead , she is Raped and the Royal Thai Police do nothing to either protect her or arrest the perp.
