Thai man pulls gun on convenience store staffer over mask wearing - police give him SEVEN days to come in

Sanook reported that a social media post on "Hunter.Reborn" showed a Thai man pull a gun on a staffer outside a convenience store.

He was angry after he was denied entry because he was not wearing a mask.

Setthaphon, 45, went back to his vehicle and got the gun before acting as though he was going to shoot.

The incident happened at the PTT gas station in Na Noi, Nan province in Thailand's far north last Friday.

Na Noi police have issued a summons giving him seven days to come in and face a charge of having a gun in a public place. They also want to know if it is a legally held weapon.

Sanook said he would be charged with having an unlicensed gun if that too proves to be the case.

Yes and when he is found  give him the "hefty" 500 baht slap on the wrist.

Why is this picture blurred?

Are you saying this might not be a gun or the public should not be told this man is dangerous and is best

avoided?

Excuse my dumb farang thinking, but wouldn't he have been better off waving a gun around WITH a mask, to make it harder for him to be identified? Or is that pushing the boat of expectation of common sense out too far?

maybe he  objected to how  many of the staff "wear" theirs.........half  down their faces

He was angry after he was denied entry because he was not wearing a mask.

Unbelievable.

Unbelievable.

Not. Happens in many countries. But elsewhere, people generally get arrested on the spot or soon after...

Common sense is not a recognized currency in the realm!

Exactly, and why are foreigners banned from owning guns, licensed or otherwise........

The police gave a mentally unstable person who pulled a gun on 7-11 store staff over a mask incident 7 days to lose control again and possibly kill someone....

.... Atrocious policing, complete and total laziness of the highest order. Get out and catch him, he wasn’t wearing a mask he’ll be in CCTV !!! - Do some police work !

The man was probably tossing this morning between Humm, should i put a mask on today like everyone else or strap a gun to scare the living daylight of those  who's going to give hassles?...

Perhaps you should remember that plenty of foreigners come from countries which have national laws which don't allow mr. joe public from owning / carrying guns, and they agree with these laws.

So he remembered to take his gun out to the shop, but not his mask!!?

You haven't been here long.

Perhaps he'll show up at the police station this evening to start his 8pm shift.

If he does not come in within 7 days....give him another week to comply ?,

You can imagine the talk in the Police Station. He's got a gun....I am not

going to look for him...me neither, give him a week to come in, when its

all forgotten about.

What's the line we often hear in movies? "If you bring a gun, you better be ready to pull the trigger". Isn't that supposed to mean that taking a gun somewhere isn't a game. People will assume you mean business, so be ready to use it.

Can I assume that the police here have given him seven days as they think he wasn't really being serious and was just bluffing? Good to know the police take gun crime seriously.

Be fair, nothing much done in the BOSS case for 8 years.

So 7 days for this guy, not fair...

Maybe because they have enough problems with stupid gun owners  who are Thai already?

I'm trying to imagine what the dufus had to say, while he pointed the gun and shocked the sheet out of the poor 7-11 clerk.  ....do you know who I am, do you know who my dad is, how dare you hurt my feelings?
