Noise from loose drain cover keeping me up at night

We have a row of four metal drain covers in the road in front of my house. Whenever a vehicle drives over them you hear a loud clunk. I should put a decibel meter near it, it's so loud it could cause hearing damage if you're stood within a few meters (my opinion).

We asked Tessabaan to fix and they came! Unfortunately a full day of work yielded exactly the same situation: the loud clunk you hear when someone drives over the covers. This is a busy road so it happens every few seconds.

What can I do to resolve this issue? Has anyone encountered a similar situation?

No consolation , but my daughter, who lives in Islington has just had the drain cover outside her apartment fixed after......8 months of hounding the council.

...if all else fails, get someone to tack weld the covers in place. two or three welds per cover should keep it from moving  ????

Welding Manhole Covers

Er - manhole covers have mobility for a reason.

You can use a piece of old motorcycle tyre or inner tube. Pay someone to cut three or four pieces, lift the manhole and place the pieces so that they protrude slightly above the level of the road.

This is a very cheap and commonly used fix. Easy to replace aswell.

That's what they did on Soi Buakhao in Pattaya many years ago.

Still do, and not just with Soi Buakhao but with every street in every city or town in Thailand - assuming they have drains.

Done that! Works great!  Also poured some fast setting mortar around edges, worked as well!

The idea with the rubber is excellent. I'd give it a try.

You'll get old car tire tubes at any tire store and these seem to be the best.

Yes, and save the world by recycling truck tires. 5555555

Not necessarily that bad an idea. Who can forget ...

Stand on the drain cover with a white sheet over you lit underneath with a

small torch. When the word gets out, no one will ever use that road.

Make sure by writing 'pee' on the sheet, but not in English.

There is your answer OP move to Islington.

Are the covers the same size in Islington and if so do you know what the excess baggage fee is please?

PS;  Will I need my own rubbers  in Islington?

Depends on the size of your manhole.
