Locals in Prachinburi’s Kabin Buri district were shaken to the core when a man presumed dead suddenly sat up on Monday morning.

Facebook user Thawin Yoosuk posted images of people standing around a man they thought was dead in a field.

However, when police officers tried to pick up the “corpse”, it sat up terrifying everybody.

The so-called dead man explained he was drunk and collapsed before he could find his way home.

Brilliant...

No one even checked whether or not he was breathing !!!

Quite a funny story but with regards to basic education highlights precisely how behind the times much of Thailand is.

Look dead to me from the distanced photo. So you don't want to accidentally interfere with any investigative proceedings. Leave the corpse alone and remain nearby until authorities arrive.
I dont think you can judged the society with this.

Maybe he just naturally smelled really bad...enough to attract flies.

Same thing's happened to me a couple of times.    : )

The first thing many Thais do upon rendering aid to an accident victim is to get them to stand up (argh!).

If they don't partially stay up or at least scream in complaint then they must be dead.

Happens in the West as well with people waking up in the morgue.

Some years ago a German doctor signed a death certificate for a bed ridden old lady, 'natural causes' by coincidence a sticking plaster was removed from the back of her head at the funeral parlour and a wound from a 0.22 bullet was found, her family who she was living with had murdered her.

corpse?  they don't know it's a corpse.  not yet at least.

shirley they'd have found out whilst checking the alleged victim's shoe size, id card number, and time on broken wristwatch for winning lottery numbers!

I mentioned about the general scenario.

I was riding on the back of a "win taxi' once, the old fella seemed to be having issues as we got to the end of the road.

We stopped, then started to list heavily to one side [at which point I bailed off] to watch him fall on his side with the bike.

In a nano second 3 helpers rushed over to help him up, as they lifted him I noticed his right leg was at 180 degrees to what was normal [his foot was pointing backwards]

I tried to tell them to put him back down as his leg was broken, only for him to twist it back around and fit it back on... it was a false leg !!!

only twice, you need to improve your score...

Happens every day around quitting time. Corpses who haven't moved for hours suddenly get up to go home.  And that's in the USA.

They even sell gag posters:  "Anyone who doesn't believe in the resurrection should stop by this place at quitting time.  Just don't get in the way of the exit" and "Employees who die at your desk are kindly requested to lay on the floor, so we can tell the difference"

I remember in high school when we saw our first passed out drunk in a field.  we all took selfies with him for two days, getting soo many likes on Facebook!!!  we even changed his position many times....

after 3 days the police came and said he has been dead for 3 hours.

ah.....errrrrr........ah.......errrrr......well, ah.........errrrrrrr.......it's a mai bpen rai.
