It may well be an unenviable task due to the terrain & length of aforementioned borders but how many squaddies do they have lolling around doing buggar all ?

 

Now is the time for them to put all their training to a good use for the benefit of the common man & woman, or maybe they are better suited to easy targets on Bangkok's streets, 16 to 25 year old students, peaceful and unarmed, oh sorry, that's to difficult.

IT's fairly easy to get across the border and nobody would know.  That's why they have checkpoints along roads around border points looking for them.

The only thing that the Army are any good at is supressing the rights of their own citizens.

The borders are like sieves and they have no hope of stopping people getting across, despite their claims.

Went through a new Checkpoint at the Big Buddha at the Golden Triangle.  But it is so easy at night to shoot accross the Mekong there

Astonishing incompetence, indifference and ineptitude. And in most nations the PM would resign over such a monumental failure. Again I ask, what on earth does the army do here, if not protect the borders during a pandemic? Are they completely useless to the nation?

Most countries use the army as protection against adversaries, here they are commissioned to suppress freedom of expression.

Meanwhile in other news, Laos has posted soldiers on their border to stop Thais entering Laos - Thailand has had 60 deaths and over 4,000 cases of the virus.  Laos has had zero deaths and just a few dozen of virus cases.....

I don't think this administration is going to have a downfall in the near future, although the present unelected "PM" may eventually get replaced with another unelected "PM".

Yesterday more than 500 migrant workers tested postive for covid-19 in Samut Sakhon province.

More than 90% of them were asymptomatic.

Interesting if you look at the location of Samut Sakhon province on the map of Thailand.  It is situated just under Bangkok, and approx 150 km from the Myanmar border.

Now there the migrant workers are saying they paid military personnel 6,500 baht per person  to be allowed into Thailand for work, and to avoid ASQ and the USD$100,000 insurance policy.

Eliminate there is an estimated 500,000 in the RTA alone. Then in the Royal Thai Armed Forces bit, it says 360,850...

 

Anyways. 2 meters between them, 24 hours per day... 721,700 meters. Exclude 10% senior officers...650 kms.  Need more grunts.

 

 

Why not build a big beautiful wall and get the Burmese to pay for it?

Too little too late...........................most routes into Thailand must be known to the Border Police and could of been more effectively sealed off long ago. Where there is a will there is away.
