All residents in Chalong to receive COVID vaccine free, including foreigners

PHUKET:-- Foreigners living in Chalong will be freely vaccinated COVID-19 once the national government has approved which vaccines may be used in Thailand, Chalong Mayor Samran Jindaphon has announced.

 

Mayor Samran explained to The Phuket News today (Jan 18) that Chalong Municipality has already set aside a budget of B20 million to source a vaccine once they become available.

 

Chalong Municipality must acquire any COVID-19 vaccine from the Ministry of Public Health, Mayor Samran admitted.

Join the queue Mr Mayor, your Health Secretary left it too late to acquire enough vaccines and you'll be lucky to get any spare before 2022 unless you pay top dollar from one of the private hospitals that will be selling them once approved.

Would this free offer compel all foreigners living in Phuket move to Chalong?

Total bs if you ask me,1 he’s the only person of authority who’s vaccinating by area rather the every other country who are doing it by age,health issues,health workers and probably against the instruction of the companies who are providing the vaccine.2 never would the Thai give farang something for free when they can send you to a private hospital to be washed,rinsed and mangled for big bucks.the only fella getting it free is me as I’m in the Uk.

Maybe the pressure the central governments needs to vaccinate all in the country that wish to be vaccinated.  If there is a nominal cost then so be it, but at least it sounds like an area in Phuket is on the right track.  I know they want tourism back and want to ensure the arriving folks whether it be international or domestic tourists are provided a safe environment, well as safe as possible by ensuring the residents living in at least Chalong are vaccinated.  I lived there near Wat Chalong for a few years before moving to Rawaii, and then North to Udon before moving to where I am now in BKK.
