The Queen of England was way down the list when she received the vaccine, care Holmes residence over 80ys Young were the first to be vaccinated, which started over 5 weeks ago, the Queen of England only received her vaccine 2 weeks ago.

You can still get the virus after the jab and still shed.  Plus, the efficacy is not fully known yet, but I've read it's around 70%.  Which means 30% of the people will still get sick, just not as bad.  And a mask will still be required.  That's not going to change for a long time.

 

Congrats to him for taking the jab.  It sets a good example, especially for the vaccine skeptics.  Like many on this forum.

Yes, a money maker for some.  An absolute necessity for all.  Some 75% or so of the global population needs to be jabbed to achieve herd immunity.  We need to support this effort, not bash it.

 

And sadly, the virus is mutating and the current jabs may not be effective against them.

Negotiations of price for the additional 35 million doses are still going on but bit is not clear whether these negotiations are taking place with Astra Zeneca or the local producer, Siam Bioscience. It is also  confusing that Anutin is quoted as saying that the 50,000 AZ doses arriving next month (from Italy) for $5 a dose are out of the initial order of 26m doses (that was going to locally produced). Will there be no difference in the price of imported and locally produced AZ? The government is putting B600m into the building of a new plant for Siam Bioscience to produce the vaccine (mainly for export apparently, as the production is to be 200m doses a year). So it should expect some price benefit. Meanwhile the AZ vaccine is supposed to be available to low and middle income countries from the WHO’s COVAC scheme for $3 a dose. What of Thailand’s efforts to procure AZ from COVAC? All very confusing.

 

it also seems the government has stopped talking about the Sinovac vaccine that has yet to obtain approval from its regulator in China that it was accused of trying to bribe. The government earlier announced it had ordered 2m Sinovac doses to start arriving next month for a whopping price of $17 a dose compared to the regular export price of $6. Anyway the results of the Sinovac trials are all over the place and hovering just over the bare minimum of 50% in Brazil which conducted the most comprehensive trials. Since none of the Sinovac results are properly verified and published in a credible peer review journal, it is likely that the verifiable efficacy of Sinovac is actually less than 50%. If they cancel Sinovac, some people will be out of pocket but it will perhaps be no great loss to the Thai people.

 

What has become of the Chula tobacco leaves vaccine that apparently worked so well on monkeys? Anutin was raising B500m from the public to build them a factory last month.

 

Since Thailand is still so undersupplied, let’s hope Anutin is talking to Johnson & Johnson about its one shot vaccine for $10,

The topic is about 50 K doses from AZ for Thailand, the UK extended the AZ interval which sets a precedent that Thailand may or may not follow.

Pfizer doesn't come into it.

 

You can think what you like about the policy adopted by the UK, others took a different view.

 

The JCVI "has advised the priority should be to give as many people in at-risk groups their first dose, rather than providing the required two doses in as short a time as possible," the announcement said. "Everyone will still receive their second dose and this will be within 12 weeks of their first. The second dose completes the course and is important for longer term protection."

You are obviously no very familiar with accounting practice, the old saying "use it or lose it" meant budget surpluses being spent in the last few weeks of the financial year.

With regards to the Covid Vaccine, Thailand FDA and concerned Authorities have been in the process of acquiring/importing the vaccines at the moment.

The first doses will go to those who are most vulnerable such as front line medical staffs and personnel and senior citizens who are Thai nationals only.

 

The private section of healthcare will have to obtain the FDA approval from the Thailand Government Bodies on the potential imported vaccines, and Samitivej Group of hospital has been working with Thailand FDA and concerned to initiate the process as well as to meet their requirements for the approval. We are aiming to have the vaccines available for private purchases through our hospitals by the 2nd quarter of 2021.

 

For now, please continue your vigilance in keeping a distance from others and practice self-hygiene with mask wearing and frequent hands washing, avoiding crowded places, and essential travels across the provinces – especially to the high risk areas for the time being.

 

Rest assured that once we have the vaccine available for sale to the public, we will announce publicly. At this point, we do not accept any wait-listing or reservation of the vaccines to be available through our hospital yet. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

But its a lie, vax cost $7.7, not $5. 
the minister doesnt know figures, makes things up. 
there is a very big difference between $2.7 in the EU and thai price $7.7. It's a huge almost 200% increase. 
 

Contract with astrazeneca was signed already in october, on highest diplomatic level, including british embassador and price was set. Just the money was aproved by the government this year. 
 

showing true accounts is not winging. Somebody has to be responsible for waisting public money. Possibly thai producer made inflated figures, to boost their income, and ministry blank aproved it. Astrazeneca claims they are not making any profit
