Health officials on Monday reported 914 new COVID-19 infections in Samut Sakhon following the start of widespread testing which will eventually see almost 60,000 people in the province tested for the virus.

Among the first round of testing carried out on Monday found 844 cases, 760 of which were from migrant workers, with 84 Thais testing positive.

A further 35 migrant workers and 35 Thais tested positive after taking tests at hospitals.

Health officials said they will test more than 10,000 people per day for the next  five days and expect to find around 800 new cases each day.

They said because of this, the number of new cases found on Monday was as they expected.

In preparation for the discovery of more cases, field hospitals have  been set up in the province which can accommodate around 2,500 patients.

Tests are mainly being carried out among the migrant worker population in the province at factories and dormitories.

do 60k tests in any province and see real numbers, i guess it's easy to blame workers, crowded by dozens in the room for spreading the virus

So the positivity rate (in this 'cluster') is ~ 8+ %?

Still say they should release one set of numbers from on source at the same time every day.

Yes, I understand that these ~ 900-ish will be in today's numbers.

The real question here is what level of cycle threshold are they testing at? The WHO, FDA and others use cycle thresholds that are higher than the actual science shows will detect live virus.  If they test at those rates, it will always show many positive tests that contain dead viral cells and are not infectious and will not cause the Covid-19 disease.

Whether Covid or any other disease, a doctor will never consider only one test result to form an opinion but overall Clinical presentation, a confirmatory test and additional diagnostic as well.

How many of us know anyone who is ill with Covid now?  I don't know anyone.

Neither do I, but it doesn't mean its not around. Plus, schools returned in this area yesterday so anything could happen.

So how do you know about them?

For this outbreak we can surely thank the Elite who needed to save around 200 baht a day per Burmese labourer over Thai labourer that they are supposed to 'Love' ( Thai rak Thai ) .

They used corrupt officials  to get the infected Burmese  on-site  without the pesky expense of paying for their  Quarantine , and continue to use corruption to  avoid any repercussions , and the Thai Government say and do  nothing about it all.

Every Thai taxpayer and business in Thailand  is now paying for their greed and it is  they that  should be bankrupted  by being made to pay for treatments.

Isaan farangs have Thai partners who have extended family everywhere, word of mouth travels fast, no secrets here.

Agree with your statement, things will never change here, corruption is a way of life here in Thailand on all levels of society.
