Public, private firms can now apply to grow hemp

Thailand’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will allow government agencies, private companies, farmers and the public to apply to grow hemp from January 29 after the Public Health Ministry removed the plant species from the category V narcotics list in November.

According to ministerial regulations, the import of hemp seeds for growing will be allowed within five years after being removed from the narcotics list.

“People can apply to grow hemp for any purpose – commercial, medical, educational, research or for traditional use,” said FDA vice secretary-general Supattra Boonserm.

“Hemp fibre and its oil extract are also allowed for use as material or ingredients in the textile, food and beverage, food supplementary, and cosmetics industries,” she said.

Supattra said candidates must apply in the area in which they wish to grow hemp. Bangkok residents can apply at the FDA’s head office, while residents in other provinces must apply at their provincial public health offices.

“On February 2, the FDA will run an online training course via Facebook Live @FDAThai on how to apply for growing hemp and how to register health-related products made from hemp. For more information, contact tel 02-590-7771-3,” she added.

You mean my Hemp garden is to much, you don't say, really now, but it is in BKK, you say I can not, well how was I to know I needed to apply for a license.  Anutin said it was legal...I only wanted so

  • That is a surprising but good decision. I smoked it in Amsterdam about 30 years ago one time (it was legal there). Combined with a lot of beer I had a very bad experience the next day. I never tried i

Why Industrial Hemp Oil Is Usually Not the Best Source of CBD

People are turning to industrial hemp-derived CBD oil in hopes of relief from common ailments like chronic pain, anxiety, and insomnia. However, not everyone agrees that industrial hemp plants are the best cannabis plants to extract CBD, especially full spectrum products. Why?

High-resin cannabis plants, which are largely marijuana plants, have upregulated genes for cannabinoid synthesis. This means that marijuana plants usually have a greater diversity of cannabinoids than hemp plants, which can add therapeutic value to full spectrum CBD products. Furthermore, because CBD is a cannabinoid, many marijuana plants often contain more CBD than hemp plants.

Not to mention, studies suggest that THC and CBD may work better together than apart, so the high-CBD and incredibly low-THC of the industrial hemp plant may not be the best option when it comes to our health.

I'd like to see you try smoking hemp - might make for a good laugh! Hemp and Cannabis are two very different things. One will have you coughing and laughing, the other will have you retching on the floor.

As usual it’s difficult to decipher what exactly they’re talking about these folks ????????‍♂️
I often wonder who writes these articles. Nevertheless it wouldn’t be such a bad idea should it be legalised ????

Anyone know if hemp CBD oil is legal and sold in Thailand and how its effectiveness is compared to cannabis CBD oil? I know its less, but is it useless?

don't bother with hemp cbd oil. in fact try to avoid anything here that says cbd and is packed in a fancy box with letters all over it. for the most part what is being sold here is ahhh...garbage.

In the fineprint it says the flowers of hemp, which contain most CBD, are still off limits.

Flowers as in buds for smoking, extracts are allowed. Tea from leaves, too.

But you know, this is Thailand. What's written in law and the reality are two different things.

So probably expect some "Premium" hemp tea in the market soon that might make a good smoke if you are looking for CBD.

By the way, if I remember correctly this is how it started with legalization of Cannabis in Switzerland.

They were allowed to sell air refresher and herb pillows that contained first class weed and everyone knew.

Just needed to open them and smoke.

Grow what you like and ask for forgiveness after. Seems to work, mostly.

It was and is not legal in the Netherlands. Authorities turning a blind eye.

yes THC is a lot better !

I use it daily !

I think the question any potential grower of legal hemp would want answering is....is anyone gonna come round and check you are growing hemp in 6 months, 2 years etc. down the road?  As every single grower will want to stick a couple of proper weed plants in with every harvest. For one thing its a nice additional and lucrative income, especially for a poor farmer etc.

i would be very careful with that as well. for the most part the vast majority of what is being considered medicine here is far from it.

you are probably consuming some pretty horrible stuff. but hey it gets you buzzed right.

you can smoke it , eat it or stick it up your backside .... until cannabis is removed from the narcotics list all are just a complete waste of time

EDIT ... a license for hemp ???? better check the wife isnt growing illegal roses

I tried smoking a piece of hemp rope once. All it did was giving me a sore throat. I think I was cheated. The seller had assured me it was "best quality".
