Police in Phatthalung in the far south of Thailand brought in a steamroller to destroy 280 illegal exhausts.

The haul worth 100,000 baht was seized from street racing motorcyclists annoying people by racing noisily along the Asia Highway and Manohra Road.

Provincial police deputy Pol Col Phakhin Na Ranong presided over the ceremony to mark the end of the exhausts at the Phatthalung police station yesterday following a crackdown in the previous month.

Ah.  Photo op for the brown shirts Another short term.measure.  smash the motorbikes and ban the kids who ride them.   Too easy isn't it.. or for Thailand too simple

Erm.... didn’t they say that last time ???

Apart from the pathetic ‘publicity stunt’ this is a good thing... But, I don’t understand why they dont just confiscated the bikes for a month (and strip the exhaust) - send a hard message.

Are the bikes going to make less noise without the exhaust?

For a hard message, steamroller the bikes ????

should have crushed the entire motorcycle.  these guys are just going to buy a new exhaust system and continue racing.

Unfortunately they missed the real culprits, either the motorbikes of the riders ...........LOL

Don't remove the exhausts before you use the steamroller.  Will take a bit longer with the bikes still attached but the cure will last longer.

Nice earner for bike part dealers...

Waste of money hiring a roller, they should have bought a 14lb hammer and got the naughty boys to smash their own pipes and chuck onto the scrap truck.

PS. I ended up in front of a judge for the same offence, that was exactly 55 years back..:stoner:

Would rather they spend the time steamrollering the pickups that when I drive behind

belch black carbon

Just for the record That is NOT a steamroller, those are called a road-roller powered by diesel. :coffee1:

Smash their motor bikes, take away their licenses and ban them all for five years with a hefty fine to boot

And the places and people that fitted the illegal exhausts? No mention of them being closed and arrested. Too much work to track them down I suppose.

Why take the exhaust of the bike, come to that what about the pillock that rides it.

Yes, if the bikes are properly crushed.

They didn't need to remove and crush the mufflers separately.

Once the bikes are crushed, for safety they should also set the leaking gasoline on fire.

It would be a scene that the owners would fondly remember for years to come.

Up here in Mahasarakham district the motorbikes with noisy exhausts can be heard 2 km away, having blasted through our village at all hours. The police need to do their job and tell all the village headmen to inform their villagers that anyone riding a bike with an illegal exhaust, will have their bike crushed if the exhaust is not replaced with a legal one within one month. Wishful thinking I know.
