Popular Post webfact Posted February 8, 2021 Popular Post Posted February 8, 2021 Second wave of Covid all under control except for Bangkok and two provinces, top doc Source: Sanook Thailand's top Covid doctor Opas Kankawipong has declared that everything is under control except for Samut Sakhon, Bangkok and Tak. In the central Thai province of Samut Sakhon the authorities were subjecting Myanmar migrants to the "Bubble and Sealed Factory Accommodation Quarantine" strategy keeping the migrants in factories and homes and treating them if they fall sick. In Tak in the north west of the country there was still evidence of transmission between Thais and Myanmar people and strict measures were still in place to monitor this. In Bangkok the main problem was asymptomatic Myanmar people working in homes spreading the virus to Thais. Contact via friends was being limited. Lack of mask wearing was a problem. Contact via friends was being limited. Lack of mask wearing was a problem. Time to keep the blame game going. The poor nanny's and Housekeepers are the problem I see, yeah right. Shameful to blame them only, and not just say everyone is responsible. I feel sorry for the migrant workers. I now pay my housekeeper more to clean and do what she does in our home here in Bangkok as her partner has lost his job due to covid, and is afraid to go to work in a factory. Plus by paying her more I ensure she does not stop working, and if she gets sick she has the funds to pay for treatment. We do socially distance in the Condo as it is large enough, and our entry way is where gloves and masks and sanitizer buckets sit for when we return from the outside world, and for her to use as well. 48 4 4

ThailandRyan Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 of Todays 186 new cases, 141 were from Walk-ins to hospitals....progressively increasing on the walk-in category. Of course they are saying its being passed onto Thais from Myanmar homecare workers. 2 1
Popular Post realfunster Posted February 8, 2021 Popular Post Posted February 8, 2021 If accurately reported, I am astounded at what is being said here, particularly point 3 regarding domestic workers. I would have thought the bigger issue in Bangkok was celebrity parties . Anyhow, how did these mostly unregulated domestic workers get the virus and get into Thailand ? Or did they pick it up in Thailand ? What have the responsible authorities done about any of this ? Aside from being distasteful, this narrative does not bode well for effective monitoring and control amongst Thai citizens, if COVID is painted as only being a problem with the great unwashed coming in across the border. In trying to avoid any blame, a dangerous game is being played here. 16 2 3

Popular Post internationalism Posted February 8, 2021 Popular Post Posted February 8, 2021 In bangkok it's not burmese, but very much thai shrimp sellers, who got it from sakhon. since then it was here constantly for over a month. The walk in's are rather not burmese, who if illegal would rather hide, but thai worrying after contact with positives. infection might be here untill the very hot weather arrives in march. 5
