Police in Bangkok have arrested an Indian national with a one month old baby leopard after a sting at a gas station on Rama 2.

Officers from the natural resources and environmental crime division became aware that Mr Manimaran R.was dealing in illegal animals and protected species.

A sting was arranged at a PTT gas station in Bang Khun Thian in which 420,000 baht was offered for the leopard, a male animal just over one month old.

The Indian man has a business for importing animals. A search of his property in the same area revealed only legal animals.

He said that he bought the animal from a zoo near Bangkok. The animal was bound for a foreign country.

Pol Maj-Gen Phitak Uthaitham said that the arrest was a result of contact with the Wildlife Justice Commission and an American organization.

The Indian man was charged with having a protected species in his possession for sale. The zoo where he bought the animal that was given to him just after its birth is now under investigation.

The animal is now in the care of the national park commission.

Isn't  the one without a mask the Indian?

While the outcome is good you do need to watch the activities of the great satan.

Isn't the national park commission a bunch of bureaucrats in offices in  Bangkok? If so I'm curious what they intend to do with it. Funny that they never handed it over to a zoo to look after :whistling:

Proof that Thailand is still in the dirty business.
