Car servicing in Pattaya

Hi all, Ive just bought a ford fiesta 2012, 87k on the clock. I want to get it serviced and fit a new cam belt. Should I deal with a ford service garage ? Or is there a good Thai alternative ? Many thanks for all the help guys.

The best mechanic in Pattaya is Mr Sakda his tel no s 0817156819 he picks up your car and returns it,also speaks english,if parts are required you supply them ,used him for years

After being ripped off by the local, highly recommended he speaks english. I took my car to one of the local Honda dealers. They did the work the other guy was suppose to do, all sorted and no more expensive than the highly recommended guy. This was in Chiang Mai. I would just take it to the local Ford dealer.

There was a thread on this recently - local Ford specialist in Pattaya. Unfortunately the local dealer does not have the greatest reputation........

I agree that it's usually so ridiculous to try to fix for cheaper without guarantee...

still good even if he is always drunk ?

i sued it long time ago when i had an old car, but never on a german car...

I contacted cartech service centre late last year about a CVT fluid change in my Nissan...it was cheaper to go to my local (Pattaya) Nissan dealership

No surprise, I never met any honest foreigner garage...

This is why going to official benz is always better most of the time (independent garages here also do not invest in computer and software to connect to your car, so they will never find any problem early)

what Nissan model was that, they changed my cvt fluid at 30,000k only 2 and a bit years old on a 1.2 almera, not cheap

Nissan Sylphy with 50k on the clock....2,600 baht inc.

I,ve had two Almeras before never needed changing CVT fluid (40k) in fact the mechanic said the oil in the Sylphy was fine....changed it anyhow to be sure...30,000k is on the low side,methinks you were conned....@ 40k in the service schedule they recommend inspect only

Bosch Service Centre on Sukhumvit wanted 1800 baht but use Valvoline CVT...Eurotech wanted 2400 for Nissan CVT NS2....not worth a forty minutes drive over when Nissan charged me 2600 with the latest NS3 fluid.

i was thinking the same, the wife sorted the service out, and they just changed it, and she just paid, looking at the bill they charged 1,840 for 4l of ns3, also brake fluid, + rad fluid, +brake cleaner + labour - gearbox 300,  wheels 500, + rad 150 + vat, total 5,785. 27,790k, just 2 years old, a real rip off,

This time i took it, only oil and filter change 1,800 thb, won't get caught again.as soon as the warranty is up i will do myself or get it done local.

Rubbish i have used him for 15 yrs ,never ever even smelt drink on him,he is a 1st class mechanic ,many people i know use him ,he also gets recomended on here all the time by expats

Hardly. I am not the one that said they did not like foreign companies but recommended Mercedes Benz. Have another drink

SO...the story so far. .. I Rang Ford, on the Suk op macro, to book a service for my Fiesta. Passed to 3 thai speaking staff, then left with music for 5 min. I hung up and asked the mrs to book the service.

Booked in 8.30 today. Went back latter to check them, and was told it would cost 25,000 + !!

Nobody spoke English so called the mrs to come down. They wanted 11,000 to change the window rubbers, 2,400 for new window wipers, 2,800 for oil change +++ I cancelled it all and am now waiting for them to put back all the interior door panels, they took off for some reason.

When I asked why they did not quote for the cam belt change (cars done 85000kl ) They just looked puzzled !!!. So still need a service  !!! FUMING !!!

So you ignored the comments about that specific dealership and went ahead anyway without going to see them and getting a quote for what you wanted? Changing window rubbers is hardly a standard part of any service.......

 

Sorry but I have been there several times and there are staff who speak English but you need to go and engage with them.

 

Oh and buy the way check that there is no fix required for the door catches/fasteners. My gf car is a year later but one of the rear doors suddenly would not engage the closing mechanism. Fortunately she had other people with her who could hold the rear door closed.........

Free fix and they changed all 4 door catches.

 

Also if automatic has it had the fix for that specific problem.........?

2500 for oil change ,god almighty ,my mechanic charges 700 baht for a 6000 km service ,(i supply the oils) and he picks it up and delivers it back. never been let down .

...your post made me chuckle...kind of resembles the treatment I've got in that place 555. You are better of going to show your car to any car workshop around town UNLESS you need to hook it up to Ford computer system e.g to update the PowerShift software, if not, then stay away!!

 

I would recommend to go have a chat with the ex-Ford guy on Suk Soi 89 and ask how much he wants for the job if work that Ford experience would be of value. However sounds that your jobs are kind of generic that can be done in any workshop.

 

I personally use Sak Garage on Thepparasit (right before Kaan Show driving towards Suk) for any general fixes as close to me, and speaks english (worked in Europe before) and cheap.  Last time I recall I paid 500 for work when replaced a transmission rubber mount, changed oil and filter and rotated tires (had parts myself).

Jeez, what are they up to....?

I use the one nearly in Laem Chabang and I must admit to having language barrier issues. They had one lady who spoke English well but she seems to have vanished. They also tried to get me to pay for new wiper blades when I knew the old ones were perfectly fine. What is wrong with the window rubbers? Those prices sound like blatant rip-off.

Got the lot done, filters, oil, bulb replacement, cam belt and all 4,700 bht, from a service garage on Siam C C rd near the overhead structure close to rail track rd. Lesson learnt, forget the dealerships.
